There is a peculiar theme as shown in the photo above. It’s the number of pics of people standing and looking at a huge wave headed their way, like sightseers or like someone at the movies. It’s kind of creepy.

A few of the pictures, including the one shown here, are actually from a tidal surge in China a few years ago. A00.jpg, A01.jpg, A02.jpg, A05.jpg, A07.jpg. A tragic event in itself, but not on the same scale as the tsunami of 2004.
The compilers of this collection have managed to keep out the many fake tsunami photos that are circulating. The real photos may not look as ‘dramatic’, but they are much more disturbing.

Even though a few may be fakes, what I find most amazing is that people actually stopped and took a photograph! This is, in my opinion, one of the most positive aspects of the ubiquity of digital cameras these days – that these events get documented by real people living it, right there and then! 20 years ago we wouldn’t have one tenth of the images we have now, and hopefully something can and will be learned from all these images.

i think that the tsunami was a realy sad thing that happend to all the places it had hit and that to do it to such a harded lifed place and i am realy sorry it happend but i can’t change it can i. I hope in futer life bring’s betta bet. I am at school now just wishing u all could be to got to get back to maths now bye and good luck in futer. From marni****
