A woman in Cyprus is on trial for sorcery after pledging to shake off a curse apparently plaguing a man’s relationship with his wife and mother-in-law.
The suggested remedy consisted of an egg, a spoon, a nail, some pubic hairs and underpants, local media reported Friday.
“She cracked the egg into my underpants,” the 37-year-old man told a district court in the capital Nicosia.
The elderly woman wanted some 5,000 Cyprus pounds ($12,195) for her efforts, the man said, so he went to police.
So, the dispute isn’t over the superstition; but – the price.
To those who think I unfairly pick on Christians, let me point out that I think these people are at least equally stupid, if not stupider than that…
Well no it isn’t… If you had just included the last paragraph of the article you would have made that clear.
“Sorcery is banned in Cyprus though many people indulge in card readings and palmistry and read runes in coffee cups.”
That aside though she provided a service that the buyer wanted he should pay her.
“Can you counter a curse with an egg in your pants?”
Well, not exactly, but you can counter a curse or at least an insult from your brother by putting an egg in his pants. Worked for me and he hasn’t forgot it since. I’m still waiting for the other foot to drop on this one and it’s been 20 years.
