Here is what Gary Shapiro CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) said: Dvorak's writing sings with insight and clarity. Whether or not you agree with John's views, he will get you thinking and is never boring. These essays are worth the read!

I watched the police stop people for driving under the influence of government regulation.
I noted the turnover to the New Year on my Dad’s new clock that receives the WWVB time signal, whilst watching CSI on satellite. I had a geeky, lonely New Year!
Kapowie!! You just sold a car.
I had a good fire going in the woodstove, and went to bed about 9PM. It was nice and foggy here, and that deadened the sounds of the gunfire and fireworks at midnight. I was hardly bothered. I hate the stupid New Year’s Eve events. This morning, I was up at 7, and am ready to take the dogs for a walk while my kid sleeps in. I am recharging my failed Zune right now.
I donated a $100 to DU, went out to Texas de Brazil. had to point out all the women and tell my girlfriend her ass isn’t that big, then came home and passed out like a big dog.
I watched some porn, got drunk, smoked a cigar, fell asleep alone, rolled in my puke, set fire to the couch with the lit cigar, triggered the sprinklers, fire alarm went off, fire truck showed up, every apartment was evacuated, all my neighbours hate me and when the land lord came in to look at the damages while the porn was still playing.
#6 – HIGH FIVE!!
I knitted a scrotum warmer.
Fell asleep at 11pm. My kids exhaust me.
Hey you whacky folks at DU! I was just wonderin’, is the advert looking for donations ‘real’? I just had the idea that a hack like this could be really ingenious. That added to the fact that I donated and got a paypal response but didn’t get so much as an automated response from dvorak.org. Anyways If I were you I’d spend a little on getting a beefier server for the blog…
I owned you. Like normal.
Went out to the craziness of the Strip for the fireworks and was severely disappointed by how crappy the display was. Bad economy or just bad planning by the two major casino corporations that own virtually the whole strip? Definitely wasn’t worth the effort.
Happy 2009 to us all!
#12: As a LV resident, too (Henderson, actually), I tend to do whatever I can to stay away from the tourists, especially on nights like new years eve. FYI, the fireworks were crappy — according to the tv stations — because they were worried they might start a fire like at the Monte Carlo so they toned them down. Not that fireworks had anything remotely to do with that fire, of course.
