“Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident! “

CBS4.com – Mar 28, 2006:

After exposing the images of improper police behavior in his investigative piece, CBS4’s Mike Kirsch’s own personal information was being flashed on the Broward Police Benevolent Association website.

What is normally referred to as a BOLO or Be On The Lookout by police – a bulletin announcing a criminal who is wanted – was being used by the Broward PBA to show Mike Kirsch as a wanted man. The website went on to show Kirsch’s personal driver’s license information.

When CBS4’s attorney’s wrote a letter to the PBA, they took down the BOLO, only to put it back up days later with his personal information such as home address deleted.

  1. Aaron says:

Another example of trying to shut up the press by the authories. I hope he posts the officers information on the CBS4 website. Wonder how they would feel about their personal information posted. I am guessing a couple of criminals would like that.

  2. Sounds The Alarm says:

    This is typical cop payback.

Its the old – “how dare you make me follow the rules, I’m a cop.” Then the baton comes out – whack whack. Then the old resisting arrest.

  3. Alex says:

This kind of story shows why we need to supervise the police and why they need warrants. Policemen are human and they have all the frailties thereof. We cannot just rely on our government and law enforcement to do the right thing without any oversight. Eventually someone will twist the law to suit their purposes. If this is what the regular pollice does to a reporter, imagine what the “secret police” could do to regular people.

  4. jasontheodd says:

I’ve had my fill of crooked cops, bot in my own life and in the news. It’s always frightening to realize you’re authority figures are often (far too often) just bullies.

  5. Martin says:

Mixing crooked cops with unions is never a good thing.

  6. martin says:

Beauty, here is the intro from bcpba.org (Broward Police Benevolent Assoc)

“The Broward County PBA is dedicated to promoting professionalism in law enforcement and protecting the rights and privileges of individual law enforcement officers and civilian police employees.”

  7. Paul says:

This is unbelievable, but not surprising. It is a shame when the police no longer serve the people, but rather their own elite aristocratic class.

  8. Dan says:

Alex your comment reminds me of the “The Godfather”Your being a little thick if you don’t think the bushies don’t have their secret police. Our Gov.is out of control and we need to rein it in.

  9. Tod says:

Gee… I dunno.. ya think they would make perfect “Homeland Security” troops?

  10. Gunnar says:

I can’t wait to see where this story goes. Yeah, there are good cops out there but I am sorry to see that they are drowned out by worthless human beings in uniform.

  11. Mr. Fusion says:

    Gunnar

I think you just nailed it. There are so many good cops, working their butts off, and some dirt-bag like Dick Brickman come along.

I discussed this with a local Sherriff’s Detective earlier this evening. He shook his head at how it only takes one bad a**hole like this to ruin it for everyone.

  12. Sean says:

Good job Broward Police, you’ve now brought even more attention to yourselves. What could have been a simple news article only seen by a handful of people in Florida, is now a story being seen by everyone in the country. Good job!

  13. tyron says:

abugrabe aint got nothing on our local jails and prisons when the people going to worry about that.

  14. Roc Rizzo says:

Since when does the police have to obey the law…
    They ARE the law!!!
