This is a previously unreleased video of the squirrel. I saw him about a month ago. He’s grown up and has become fully wild. Hard to recognize except that at some point he lost the very tip of his tail and although he doesn’t respond to me anymore he doesn’t run away as fast as most squirrels would. I was beginning to think he was cat food so it was good to see he’s still alive.

This video was taken with a different camera so the video quality isn’t as good as with my Sony high resolution camera.

  1. bobbo, even the hebephrenics aren't laughing says:

Fully wild squirrels can be tamed enough to take food from your hand–I’d think Ganesh could be worked with?

    Thanks for the update.

  2. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

As much as I think squirrels are the real terrorist threat to the human race, I like your story.

…start a google search for squirrels in the news and note the number of times the little furred bastards kill power to entire neighborhoods, or worse…

  3. Thinker says:

    yaaaaayy Ganesha!
(that was my first reaction when I saw your story.)
Thanks for the update. 🙂 Always good to see old friends isn’t it?

  4. tom says:

Glad to hear the little guy is still ok!

    Tom

  5. Rex says:

I can’t believe that I spent 5 minutes watching a video of a squirrel in a tree. I really need to get a life.

  6. RTaylor says:

#5 if you really want to get a life put a squirrel down your pants. 😉

  7. noname says:

Well done Marc, you have parented Ganesh most excellently. “He’s grown up and has become fully wild” What more can you want.

  8. deowll says:

Most wildlife will flee if you try to point anything at it or even look directly at it.

  9. Marc Perkel says:

#8 That’s true. Most red squirrels consider it a threat when it sees a person looking at them. Although I had hoped for more contact when I saw him he didn’t flee just being looked at. Since he was born the the neighbors tree this is his natural home so it’s not like he’s been relocated from his natural habitat.

Wish I had another one though. Definitely the most fun pet I’ve ever had.
