Here are a couple of painted ladies in the Congatech booth at the Electronica 2006 show in Munich. Yes, they are wearing paint for clothes and as our indefatigable show expert SmartAlix reports: “There is nothing like this you’ll ever see in the USA.” Indeed. Alix will be filing a complete report soon.

  1. Greg Allen says:

Isn’t painting a kind of clothing? Surely a good thick coat of paint isn’t much thinner than nylon or Lycra which counts as clothing.

I was Googling it and couldn’t easily find out but I did find this super cool full-body Spandex company!

It would have been cool to have one of these outfits when I was in my 20s but I’d look way more gross than cool these days!

  2. American Booth Babes have class!

  3. Chris Eaton says:

I don’t know what it is they are selling, but I really want it.
Congatec is the best! (at whatever)

  4. Mike Abundo says:

Circuit board boobs? I’ve got a soldering iron right here…

  5. WokTiny says:

I’ve seen some beautiful works of body painting… but what’s so great about circuit boards?

Oh come now, a Dvorak user who doesn’t value a good circuit board?

  7. WokTiny says:

    #7, I know, I know… I never really fit in anywhere…. 😉

#3, quit pickin’ on the Puritans. They were champions of discipline. Without discipline the USA would not have been the champions of the 20th century. There *might* be a connection there. Besides, America is warming up to cold skin at a steady pace, I don’t see us growing old before its a non-issue.

  8. god says:

#8 — I know a couple of “forbidden” sites that would welcome your fetish for discipline.

  9. WokTiny says:

#9 Never did I say I had a fetish for discipline.
Is your remark an example of trolling? I’m only asking because I’m not completely familiar with the concept.

  10. tallwookie says:

#3 – I agree, but gore has its place (we are after all a fairly aggressive society – almost every single generation of americans has fought in a war, we’re sort of addicted to it)… and dont tell me you dont cheer when you watch a war movie and its porkchop sammiches all over the place

  11. rctaylor says:

In the 70’s, Spring in Germany bought naked folk sunning all over the place. Nudity was no big thing. Even public sex wasn’t harassed as long as a bit of discretion was used. Been a long time back since I was there, maybe things has changed.

The last part of your statement is true, I’m certain. The first part is irrelevant as “The Puritans” are officially long dead… But if there was a good reason to picl on them it might be that no-one has the right to force moral values on others or to kill women to see if they are witches 🙂

Denying one’s self pleasure isn’t discipline… It’s just stupid. If that is what America is about, I’ll take Europe any day. They are healthier and wiser than we are, as evidenced by the fact that they kicked the Puritans out.

  13. WokTiny says:

    #13 Denying one’s self pleasure isn’t discipline

You are correct, however self-denial takes discipline.

Your point is periphery, because the Puritans were not all about denying oneself pleasure. That was not the core of their existance, it was merely something that happened in certain contexts. A most clear example of this concept is that I deny myself the pleasure of my neighbor’s wife. Few people would say I should not deny myself that. The difference is merely where we draw a line: “how much self denial is best?” Self denial has its place, people just disagree on where (and how scoped) that place is.

    again, the issue is periphery.

Also, I might have choosen Europe for other reasons.

  14. Angel H. Wong says:

Puritans did it like the Evangelics: on the downlow.

  15. Rick Fried says:

Booth Bunnies like them would have saved Comdex, which would have been this week!

  16. DeLeMa says:

Gee, all this self denial and self discipline…I kinda like this place, now where was that “forbidden” zone ? lol…way to go guys !

  17. OhForTheLoveOf says:

#14 – A most clear example of this concept is that I deny myself the pleasure of my neighbor’s wife.

It’s possible that your neighbor’s wife may also be instrumental in denying you the pleasure of your neighbor’s wife… But that’s a whole different conversation.

Few people would say I should not deny myself that. The difference is merely where we draw a line: “how much self denial is best?” Self denial has its place, people just disagree on where (and how scoped) that place is.

I can only speak for me, but I have no reason to agree or disagree or even comment on another’s choices. If I enjoy the pleasure of your neighbor’s wife, you can keep your feelings to yourself. If I enjoy said pleasure on the front lawn, at 4 in the afternoon, while your kids are riding their bikes on the sidewalk… well, you might have a right to offer me some criticism.

This brings us to a really critical question. Do you have a picture of your neighbor’s wife?

  18. WokTiny says:

#18 Actually, I don’t even know my neighbors, or if they’re married. The whole thing is hypothetical. That, you might say, is instrumental in denying me said pleasure. 😉

Anyway, the point was, sometimes self denial is appropriate. 😛
