Until Obama reverses his own words and says “I WANT more Americans to have SUVs and big houses” he’s an anti-American a-hole.
Amumbo–“I want you to have x,y,z” is the statement of a fascist/central control freak. Doesn’t matter if it is electric green eco personal transport platforms or gas guzzling Hummers with an attached trailer. The opposite is to allow market forces and free choices to make such consumer allocations.
Bit of an idiot to argue as you do. Silly, even though I assume you do it on purpose, you still are choosing “that way” to look silly.
Be smarter.
O M G. 32 DU posts without a hint of lameness. Informed, reasoned discussion. Then #33 crept out from under the bridge but at least was considerate enough to keep the mindless middle-school name-calling brief.
By golly there might be hope for this country after all.
If we can wrest power back from the extremely well financed set.
Obama got the message in november even if the rest of the left hasn’t
“Carry the battle to them. Don’t let them bring it to you. Put them on the defensive and don’t ever apologize for anything.”
Harry S. Truman

“Most people that I speak with are livid about the corruption, mistreatment of citizens and looting of this nation by the global banking system and the multinational corporations (which usually pay only about 2% in taxes). People are becoming quite aware of the situation and that makes the elitists even more dangerous. However something has to be done and awareness is the first step.”
The trouble is that you could have asked people about the corruption level back in the 70s, 80s and 90s and they would be aware of its presence.
But now we have crossed into 40 years of none of the common folk doing anything about it.
They cannot vote for change because a small elite group pick the candidates to run. Then a minority of voters show up in the caucuses and primaries and vote of whom we’ll have in the general election. By the time the majority (if it can be called that) of voters get to pick, the pickings have become slim.
And the picks have been plutocrats, save for Truman, in the past 130 years. So how could they champion the middle or lower class.
So why are not the middle and lower class flexing their democratic muscle? They have given up. They no longer trust the system even if they could tear themselves away from jobs long enough to become as involved as the wealthy. Or they are poorly educated and can’t grasp how the system works to put out candidates, create political parts and hold caucuses. And the system has been made to deter them. Adding to their mistrust.
So the real majority of the nation sit in stagnation while the plutocrats move forward. This is no different than the fat Tories in the houses of Parliament in the 18th century and their cronies and pals they send to colonies and place them in charge to toe the line and keep the masses under control for the profits of the companies.
No difference in my eyes. We are in the same state of affairs. And they are dragging us down in their filth.
Until we cast off their yoke and replace it with even-handed, forthright and trustworthy government, we will never have change.
We have allowed them too long to treat us like servants and not as equal men as we were supposed to be. It must end to keep a decent and prudent republic as we were supposed to have. If it does not we will slide like England and then to the level of Spain. Former glory now a delightful tourist destination.

#34 – Fine. Let’s elaborate:
“I Barack Obama have now realized that the ultimate elightenment of Mankind is achived by owning a big house and driving a SUV. I was wrong before and will now do everything in my power to create an environment where the maximum number of Americans drive SUVs and live in big houses worthy of Americans. However, being the land of the Free, those of you who choose to lead the unevolved, subhuman existence of rentals, mass transit and smart cars may continue to do so, even though it’s unfathomable how you can live such a life without shame.”
The point being theat Obama has not given in too easily since he hasn’t yet reversed course 180 degrees and undone everything he’s done since elected.
What do you think this fool would do in the event of a real political/military confrontation with China?
Yes. You are right.
This is what the liberals in the cities of America have installed in the White House.
About 50 Democratic Senators voted for the deal, the vast majority of their caucus.
The big problem is the way the budget baselines are constructed. All tax cuts are assumed to expire, but spending is assumed to go on forever, even when the underlying law is expiring.
I want to see Obama sign a repeal of his health care bill. With a federal court ruling that the individual mandate is unconstitutional, Obama’s corporate buddies won’t be satisfied with the bill.

You are correct and well put. Awareness is a great thing, but it won’t save the republic (what’s left of it anyway). Citizens of Britain and France seem to have more balls when it comes to showing their governments that it does ‘not approve’ of certain actions of government.. Although Britain is about 20+ years behind schedule on their anger appointment and it is the up-and-coming student generation that has been doing so (over tuition hikes).
On the flip-side, it is hard for people to take definitive action against a corrupt government when they themselves are just trying to survive week to week in the great depression 2.0. And amongst the calls for action, there are still a multitude of clueless people arguing that ‘Democrat’ is better than ‘Republican’ or vice versa, not noticing the obvious puppet strings that control a majority of both parties. The global banks and multinational corporations are destroying this nation just like they destroyed many other nations in the not to distant past with the government acting as the middle man. The ‘Economic Hit Man’ has been doing his work in the US for a while now. I guess that many people are either too stupid to recognize this.. or they are too afraid to face the reality and the gravity of the situation – thus they are in denial. Or – they just don’t care.. until they end up in some detention camp, and then it will be too late.
The lower and middle class will not move en masse against tyranny until it cuts deeply into their food and/or entertainment. Once you take away the bread and circuses of Americans – there will be riots somewhere. Heck, you could just shut down all TV stations for a day and there’d be rioting… But then any vigilante movement will be dealt with swiftly and probably violently by the government – and who is to say that said movement itself would not become co-opted by some slick operative of the elite? That’s what happened to a large block of the Tea Party, like them or hate them.
The only thing that I can see that will help is for those that can carry the standard of liberty to run for state, local, and city offices like mad. Ultimately a retreat to State level government may be the only solution that is viable until the whole Federal nightmare is resolved. Although State government has it’s own distinct corruption in places, locals can weed out corruption in their own back yard easier than propagate a successful nationwide movement.
I could be wrong… I’m not certain what the best solution would be. I do my small part in the community to help and that’s all I can manage at present. I’m deeply concerned as you are and don’t want the US to go down in history as the nightmarish blend of Soviet America and the 4th Reich.
Eric Holder has an op-ed in the Washington Post today in response to the federal court’s throwing out the individual mandate.
He is clearly incompetent to serve as Attorney General, and that op-ed alone is grounds for impeachment.
The logic he says is that it is constitutional because it makes providing health care for everyone practical.
Obama is a great negotiator.
In this compromise — just like in healthcare, B.P. spill, stimulus, banking reform, etc — he negotiated a great bunch of stuff that we liberals like (which means they are good for America).
But he gives a way the big symbolic thing.
And, Obama is pragmatic enough to know he wasn’t going to get that thing anyway. Most of us liberals are not.
What did he give away that he wasn’t going to get?
MikeN,
Single payer (for sure) and even the public option where never going to be allowed by all those politicians owned by the insurance companies. (all the GOP, some Dems).
Them same goes for all politicians owned by the uber-rich (all the GOP, some Dems). The first Republican to break ranks and do what’s right for America regarding taxes would get the proverbial bullet through their head by the billionaires.
So what did Obama give away in this tax compromise that he wasn’t going to get?
I’m not convinced he couldn’t get single payer either. If Lieberman hadn’t insisted on it last Christmas, then it would have been in the Senate bill.
So what did Obama give away in this tax compromise that he wasn’t going to get?
I’m not convinced he couldn’t get single payer either. If Lieberman hadn’t insisted on it last Christmas, then it would have been in the Senate bill. I see no reason to believe the same pressure wouldn’t have gotten the same votes for that Senate bill.
Biggest problem with the tax deal is that Obama revealed/reminded that Bil Clinton was the better speaker.
