    Pretty cool.

  3. wirelessg says:

No snowmen were harmed in the filming of this video, although the Inuit Gypsy sleeping in his igloo on top of the truck was.

  4. Rob Leather says:

    #3 Inuit Gypsy?

  5. Floyd says:

Mr. Obvious (me) says: And why wasn’t the car driver, who must have been a snow rookie, far enough back from that truck? The results were predictable.

  6. Gazbo says:

As a former truck driver, all I can say is “git er done”.

  7. StillWalkingPoint says:

And the real shame of it is…

My kids are gonna grow up without ever seeing snow.

  8. Cap'nKangaroo says:

#5 Floyd My guess is the car driver was not a snow rookie but was hell-bent on getting a good video.

  9. General Tostada says:

    Great road rage idea!

“Poor sucker didn see my Yosemite Sam ‘back off’ mudflaps.”

    ‘Scuse the dust.

  10. chris says:

#5 My bet is that the driver of the car is a cop. It sounds like the engine revs after the snow clears, probably as he is going to pull the truck over to give a ticket.

That is a good thing. You are required, at least in my state, to clear your car roof of snow for exactly this reason. I can’t see why trucks should be exempted from this.

  11. rabidmonkey says:

That was the briefest snowstorm/blizzard I have ever seen.

  12. So what says:

Gee, I wonder how great it would have been for the trucker if it had been frozen to the trailer?

  13. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

#11…lake effect snow often comes in heavy waves between bursts of sunshine, but the waves are slightly longer than this one.

Coincidentally I saw a truck yesterday with a pile about the same size, headed for I-94. Hate to get hit by that.

  14. pcsmith says:

In many northern States you can get a ticket for driving without clearing your car or truck of snow.

Bursts will come off the vehicles shortly after getting on the highway or as the car warms up and the snow separates from the roof. Some of the trucks will look like comets as the loose snow erodes off for miles.

  15. kb3myham says:

Use of the F word permitted in this instance!!!

  16. Cristina in Tampa says:

I’m just trying to figure out what that noise was immediately AFTER the car went through the cloud of snow? Sounds like a fart? ….or one of those inhuman noises we sometimes make when suddenly shocked.

  17. Josh says:

    #17
That was the sound of the windshield wiper…

  18. foobar says:

Gee, I don’t miss Canadian winters.

  19. Glenn E. says:

You’d think that the trucking industry would have come up with something that could be dragged over the top to rake snow off the trailers. Or truck stops would have some sort of station that could clear the top, rather than using overpasses to do it.

But it’s nor just truck drivers who are so inconsiderate. A day after our big snow (10″), SUVs and MiniVans were driving by, while I was shoveling, with plenty of snow on top. One idiot couldn’t even be bothered to clear more than a small spot on his windshield, to see thru. It looked like a moving igloo. People shouldn’t own and drive such large vehicles, that they’re not prepared to spend any time or effort to properly clear snow and ice off of. It’s bad enough that they block the view ahead, and in parking lots, with their arrogant need for a bigger vehicle, than a sedan or compact. But then to run around flinging off snow and ice, into everyone else’s way! All this a “to hell with everyone, my life is more important” attitude. When they get caught, they ought not to just get fined. They need serious reeducation, on getting along with the rest of us, and thinking about someone other than themselves.

  20. Glenn E. says:

The truck in the clip must have had two or more feet of snow on top. Which is probably why the follow car was filming it. Knowing it would fall off or get cleaved off eventually. But probably didn’t expect a snow explosion. The problem is that most trucks, drive around with s layer of ice or snow, on top, that can’t be seen from the ground. I’ve seen many a delivery truck running thru our town, days after a storm, with sheets and chunks of ice and snow flying off. And unless a cop is following them, nothing happens to discourage this. We’re getting “Speed cameras” near some schools. But nothing checks and IDs trucks with dangerous snow cover flying off. Even though it’s probably far more common in winter, than speeders.

Ever see a road name sign, otherwise safely and permanently affixed to the underside of an overpass, split in two? Now you know how it happens.

Hey StillWalkingPoint, you planning on raising your kids in the Bahamas or something? I expect my own grankids will have to deal with winters like I had to in 68 and 77-78. Those was some whoppers! Climate change doesn’t mean the end of harsh winters.

  22. Cap'nKangaroo says:

#21 Glenn E said “The problem is that most trucks, drive around with s layer of ice or snow, on top, that can’t be seen from the ground.”

I’ve lost count of the times this winter when my windshield has been blasted by sheets of ice flying off of cars and minivans where the driver (unless they are “little people”) HAD TO SEE the ice when they got in the vehicle.

I do accept as true with all of the ideas you have introduced to your post.

They are really convincing and will certainly work.
Nonetheless, the posts are too short for starters.
May you please extend them a little from subsequent time?
    Thanks for the post.
