I have to tell you all, that this is exactly what it is like out here!

  3. Joe says:

    The y’s are 3’s and the i’s are e’s. LOL.

  4. chuck says:

    I remember a meeting I had like that – at the end we asked for a written proposal of what had been discussed.

    They looked at us like we were crazy or something.

  5. chuck says:

    I think the guy on the left is Aneesh Chopra.

  6. Rider says:

    If you look in the craigslist computer gigs section there are guys like this in there everyday begging for someone to build apps and websites for them in exchange for shares.

  7. chris says:

    The important elements of my business are:

    * Super High Intensity Training
    * General Action Strategies
    * Corporate Re-alignment Actualization Procedures

    I am creating a network where the center of gravity is attainment of important customer- centric deliverables. We are trying to capture the fat-tail benefit of leveraging social and anti-social media sources to create a synergy of information flows.

    What makes makes this venture different from the crowd is that individual focus that sets us apart. The quality of the staff we will hire and the tight, scalable, nature of the operations we will run have already stunned the competition.

    We don’t see any regulatory issues concerning our processes. Our lobbyists have presented a similar level of detail to State and Federal regulators, who have now been brought on-side.

    I think it is important for all of our stakeholders to understand that we are all pulling in the same direction here. I would happily describe the extraordinary developments as a “Win to the X” rather than a “win-win” because of the multi-faceted nature of the business.

    GO OWLS!

  9. admfubar says:

    :)) “Cranky Lesbian Digital!” there is your new show john!!!
    dear gawd, this is the new trend in social media… i keep getting these offers of website improvments/seo/management from these companies that that do nothing but invent the “social sites” in order to sell you these services!

  10. EnemyOfTheState says:

    #7 Chris,
    Please, please promise not to market to state/local governments.

    #7 – My Nigerian partner and I are very interested in your venture — please send me your bank account details so I may transfer $18 million to your account.

  12. bobbo, Republicans are all Lying Scum Suckers says:

    Its always been like this: gibberish spouted from over confident self inflated hucksters. A few years ago, maybe they wore suits and had a power point with the last targets name on page 14 but it was the same shuck and jive.

    What is a consultant. someone the CEO hirers to convince the board of a decision the CEO has already made. How do they do it? The borrow the CEO’s watch and tell him what time it is.

    Same as it ever was, same as it will always be.

    Yea, verily.

  13. t0llyb0ng says:

    I’m never gonna watch another video that doesn’t prominently display its length in MM:SS.

  14. bobbo, Republicans are all Lying Scum Suckers says:

    tolly–I watched about 15 seconds to get the feel of the video and and a good estimate of the length of the video by looking at the progress bar. I knew I didn’t want to watch it all, but as a safety, I clicked near the end the of the video and the jibber jabber had not changed. So, I knew the vid was over 4 min long and not worth watching.

    It would be “nice” info, but not really required.

  15. Rider says:

    The SEO companies are the ones that get me. If you are so good at SEO why do you need to spam people with your ad?
    .
    I always find it odd when companies associated with promotions has do any sort of aggressive marketing. You are basically telling me you can’t even advertise your own product

  16. msbpodcast says:

    The ones who are just like that are s easy to deflect. (You just bring the boss aside and ask him who’se nephews they are and, depending on the answer, thank them very much or, at most, offer them a job in the mailroom.)

    I watched some shill from Sun Microsystems (so you know he at least came from somewhere,) dragging a Sun laptop (which was actually a luggable, [complete with a luggage rack,]) into a board room and try to explain what Sun could do for [name of financial institution withheld, {but it rhymes with “organ” :-}].

    He explained and I looked at him and I asked him to tell me if I was right: he was trying to sell us some database query optimizations that the Sun system was actually doing using our Oracle and DB/2 database index catalog, some of which were quite clever, to reduce the query to a minimal number of dynamic equations and then execute it.

    He shook my hand, told me that I was the first person he’d spoken with who’d ever got the point of what he was trying to sell us, and I never saw him again.

    Now he is gone, Sun is gone and I am gone, but at least he wasn’t trying to bullshit us like those two.

    I wouldn’t have let those assistant crack-whores wipe my dick when I was through.

  17. Yankinwaoz says:

    I wonder if Kevin Rose realizes this is exactly how he sounds?

  18. bobbo, Republicans are all Lying Scum Suckers says:

    Peepod–you mean you would just walk around the office with a slimy dick? No wonder you aren’t “there” anymore, or anywhere else for that matter as it looks.

    I think it was Dirty Harry that said it best “He’s a legend in his own mind.”

    Ha, ha.

  19. Zybch says:

    that video was painful.

  20. msbpodcast says:

    in #19 bobbo … said: No wonder you aren’t “there” anymore, or anywhere else for that matter as it looks.

    No I’m not.

    In fact my podcast ended in 2009. I got tired of carping and whining about MS about that time. (With only 0.0833% or 1 in 1,200 of the population afflicted, its an orphan disease. Lets face it.)

    But look for me (as “Charles Rovira” or “Charles-A. Rovira”) in:
    • the journal of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM,) or in
    Byte or in
    Computer Language magazine (ACM), or in
    AI Expert, or in
    • the Journal of Object-Oriented Processing (JOOP,) or in
    PC Expert or a smattering of other publications and
    I am remembered. (The beauty of the internet is that some things are immortal, immaterial but immortal.)

    My only regret is that I didn’t get to present an interactive 3D picture of the ~750 object and ~1,200 relationship Global Finacial Object Model database I was working on in 1999 to the [name withheld] management.

    VRML is a wonderful thing. 3D object visualisation of the entire database would have really helped them.

    I ran into the same situation (~400 objects ~1,200 relationship database,) right after that too.

    1,200 relationships seems so be a limit I keep encountering. [@12 points per dimension,
    1 dimension -> 12 points,
    2 dimensions -> 144 points,
    3 dimensions -> 1,728 points {more than enough}])

    One of the few advantages of having gotten old (and I have gotten old, despite life’s many attempts to bury me prematurely,) is that I can take, if you’ll pardon the pun, an objective look at things.

    I have no skin in the game as it were and can afford to take a long, leisurely look at what you all are (even if you aren’t,) doing,

    I will probably last longer that JCD (I avoid corn and corn-based/tainted products as if my life depended on it, which it does,) I may even outlast AC (see last parentheses,) and I have had a full and happy life.

    I’m a happy somewhat wealthy man who has come to terms with himself, his own ego, his mortality and with life in general.

    Who has it better that me?

  21. #18 LOL..one guy even looks a bit like him

  22. the haunted sheep says:

    I think i understand why john keeps saying on NG “why would anybody want to come to san francisco?” That is just awful, and I’m in advertising…

  23. bobbo, Republicans.......................why? says:

    #21–Peepod==well, I see you are expert, as am I regarding compartmentalizing your life and usually and mostly that is a good thing. Its good to hear that even somewhat wealthy men can come to terms with mortality and life in general. Who knew?

    Then we have the other box with a pompous ass looking for help to have his dick cleaned off.

    Surely, a more fully examined life would not contain both boxes? Or with at least one of those boxes having a tighter lid?

    I think so. One thing about life: always more work to do.

    Yea, verily.

  24. janon says:

    #18 Eerie. First person that came to my mind as well.

  25. Rider says:

    here is a perfect example these guys will give you part ownership if you clean up the web site for them, and by cleanup they mean make it functional. Look at that wall of babble.
