It is strange that Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar never prosecuted Jerry Sandusky on child-rape charges 13 years ago, some speculate, because Gricar was known for being fiercely independent and hard on crime.

But it is even stranger that we cannot ask Gricar why Sandusky was not put behind bars, because the tough-as-nails district attorney disappeared in 2005. And though he was declared dead July of this year, his body has never been found. This district attorney had “a bitter taste in his mouth for the [Penn State] program, and its coach,” according to his nephew, and never prosecuted Sandusky. He disappeared on April 15, 2005 after telling his girlfriend that he was going on a drive. Ray Gricar’s car was found the next day in a Lewisburg parking lot and his laptop, sans hard drive, was found in the Susquehanna River, according to the Patriot-News.

Ray Gricar’s friend, Montour County District Attorney Robert Buehner Jr., told the New York Times that if the ardent district attorney had committed suicide, he would have wanted his body found. But in the case of possible foul play, no suspects have emerged from investigations.

…….
From New York Times
” On April 15, 2005, Gricar, then 59, took the day off. At about 11:30 a.m., he called his girlfriend, Patricia Fornicola, to say he was taking a drive on Route 192. About 12 hours later, she reported him missing.

The next day, Gricar’s Mini Cooper was found in a parking lot in Lewisburg, about 50 miles from his home in Bellefonte. Gricar’s cellphone was in the car, but not his laptop, wallet or keys, which were never recovered. Months later, the laptop was found in the Susquehanna River without its hard drive, which was discovered later. It was too damaged to yield any information. On the fourth anniversary of his disappearance, investigators revealed that a search of his home computer yielded a history of Internet searches for phrases like “how to wreck a hard drive,” according to a report at the time in The Centre Daily Times.

When Gricar disappeared helicopters, dive teams and patrol cars were deployed, and the F.B.I. was brought in. Reports of Gricar turning up in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Maryland and other states proved to be dead ends.”
…….

When it comes to the Sandusky case, friends and former co-workers are all of the opinion that Ray Gricar would never back down from a righteous prosecution. “No one got a bye with Ray,” Anthony De Boef, who was an assistant district attorney under Gricar for five years told the NY Times. “He didn’t care who you were; he had a job to do.”

And, despite the fact that Ray Gricar had the mother of one of the alleged victims confront Sandusky while police listened, the 1998 report on Sandusky was labeled “unfounded” by the District Attorney’s Office, reports the Patriot-News.

Just an interesting coincidence?

I could care less! I’m no where near Pennsylvania or even the U.S. eastern sea board. So why should I care that some pampered over paid geezer pedophile football coach got fired? I DON’T!

What I want to know is why this crap even is considered “news”?!

Did ANYONE forget that 11/11/11 is VETERANS DAY?! Do any of you lib-tards even CARE?! Cause it seems you DON’T!

Oh my. Somebody needs a vodka tampon!

      • Skeptic > post # 27,331 says:

LOL! No offense Anon… but that was funny.

I had my moment of silence today in total respect for those who died for my continued freedom.

        • LibertyLover says:

It’s Veteran’s Day, not Memorial Day.

If you truly wish to honor Veterans, please feel free to visit your local VA hospital or Old Soldier’s Home and volunteer your time.

      • msbpodcast says:

Nobody gives a shit about veterans.

If we did, we’d still have the GI bill and there would be jobs waiting for ’em when they get discharged.

Now the word discharge refers to anal or vaginal leakage or some other disgusting effluvia squeezed out of some orifice.

They come home to unemployment, a broken educational system, a house that they don’t own, no health care, a political system of 300,000,000 poor deluded schmucks like them, by 50,000 millionaires who pass laws written by lobbyists, for 12,000 multi-millionaires and the 400 really rich…

        Welcome to America Buddy!

    • McCullough says:

I’m a vet, and I have to work today while the plant that I contract to, (mostly non-veteran gov’t. workers) have the day off. I have never once gotten veterans day off.

It’s just another day for me, and I’m happy to have work.

      So go figure.

    • Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

The pedophile coach quit 12 years ago. The guy who got fired had, until this, a spotless record.

      • Hyph3n says:

That’s a wee bit of an over simplification. Sandusky retired from PSU in 1999, but Mike McQueary allegedly caught him in the showers with a boy in 2002. And the prosecution charged that 20 others took place when he was at PSU.

        • Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

Might be simplified, whatever, but it corrects anon’s post which is just wrong.

    • The0ne says:

Tell me how you care? My family has been in the war since WW2 yet we hardly celebrate it. Sure we have our quiet reflection moments and I’ll go out, as usual, to the parade (which I happened to performed in every year during my high school years) and support the troops but we don’t actually make a big deal about it to someone that is Anonymous.

Usually people who talk like you do have no clue what it’s like to be in the military. If I’m mistaken then I’m sorry. Even if I’m not mistaken, people who act like you during Veterans Day, are the…how can I put this in a good way… douchebag. Here’s why; it is because most are humble and in this time many reflect on their course in the war(s). Most don’t come to forums/blogs and bitch because they need attention. Fck it, I should just go down the block and show your moronic post to the military families here and have a good laugh and then pity you for your stance on pedo aholes.

Raping a kid, oh wait “kids”, is not news worthy to you? Even if it’s not, you think it’s not worthy enough of an attention to people that aren’t very aware of it, especially those around the school? Or yet worthy enough to garner attention so that SOMETHING can be done about it; you know, to help the kids and all?

Well, damn then, go join the students protesting to have their pedo coach back. You’ll fit right in. Me, I rather someone kill this ahole myself. I rather the police enforcement “nudge” these students like the recent Berkeley rally. Those bastard Berkley students should know better than to protest rising costs and being ripped off. If you do join the students make sure to let us know. I’ll be the first to show you how military some of us can be. You wont’ know it’s coming, guarantee.

      @ Anonymous,

Wake on the wrong side of the bunk. We all know today is Veterans Day. Quiet contemplation is the call for the day besides the formal parades in small towns across the Country.

Lib-tards, is that even a word or just some way of you saying anyone who is not of your gung-ho attitude are backwards. Yea, war is hell and I am proud and grateful of my loved ones who served and lost but you sir are disrespecting the day.

Lastly, a prosecutor disappearing in a scandalous trial is news. What if he was someone dear to you then would it be important?

      • jpfitz says:

I would be remiss by not thanking all the Veterans on this blog and around the Country. Thank you for you service.
Don’t forget to thank the men and women in uniform when passing them is the real world.

    • Chris Donahue says:

      We care.

Bad news trumps good every time. If it bleeds, it leads. It’s been that way for a long time. Some people can do/follow more than one thing at a time. There is more going on than Veteran’s Day.

    • Brenden says:

You’re right. Sex scandals, cover ups, and conspiracies have no place on this blog. I expect more from McCollough. Can we get back to talking about what’s important like how in the world will Kim Kardashian recover from her divorce.

I would say someone thought Football was more important then innocent lives being ruined and got rid of this lawyer. When you see how Penn State students are reacting to all this. It does lead one to wonder how far the college would go to protect sports and image.

  6. spsffan says:

Well, odds are that SOMEONE had it in for Gricar. If not Sandusky, some other person that he was looking to prosecute. Obviously, Sandusky is capable of a lot of nastiness, so it could well be him.

On the other hand, this is America, and football trumps nearly everything. Too bad that James Madison et al didn’t put something in the Constitution regarding relegation of such things to the trivial position they should occupy. O! Hindsight!

    • jpfitz says:

I’m aware of the flagellation I’ll receive for my opinion on football. To me American football is a militaristic sport.
So much violence with euphemisms of war in a friendly ball game.

I’ve heard all sorts of hatred like “tear off his head” and the like. People have been shot in the streets for dissing a local team. But the all American saga of controlling your enemies turf continues, at ALL costs. Me, once a ice hockey player who prefers finesse and smarts than brute steroidal force. Fuck football and the pederasts sticking it to little boys black or white.

THE DEFINITION OF THE WHITE MALE IS: BALD, ANGRY, SMALL DICK, PEDOPHILE THAT REALLY CAN’T RUN,THINK, JUMP OR FUCK A GROWN ASS WOMAN RIGHT.

This guy clearly preyed on children from broken homes. They didn’t have the support system to know what to do. And as for the people that covered it up, they didn’t want to disrupt the nice little world they were living in. Easier to ignore than to man up and say something.

So we have a missing officer of the Dept of Justice. I’ve heard of the US govt giving new identities to people.

It is a possibility that this particular missing officer of the DOJ had connections to other officers in the DOJ who had the ability to provide people with new identities.

A prosecutor is a fairly powerful officer in the Dept of Justice and it would not be unusual to have connections that are also fairly powerful.

The missing DA could be in the USA like I said.

The missing DA could be in a foreign country alternatively.

Did any of his bank accounts and stock market accounts get drawn down significantly after he disappeared, or shortly before he disappeared?

I think we need to get a statement from the then=US Attorney General John Ashcroft onto the public record.

I can’t belive people don’t think this is an important issue and since it didn’t happen where they live they don’t want to hear about it.
It is important. It’s important because everytime someone brings something like this out into the open there’s a chance someone will hear about it. And by hearing about it maybe they remember something they saw that just didn’t look right but they did nothing. Or maybe it starts a conversation around the dinner table and a child says something about how that happened to him or he remembers a friend talking about what his “Uncle Bob” did to him.
If even one child is saved as a result of this story…..well, it’s worth it isn’t.
And by the way if you really don’t want to see it or hear it CHANGE THE CHANNEL OR CHANGE THE STATION!
