A car on fire has been driven at the main terminal building at Glasgow Airport, police have confirmed. Eyewitnesses have described a Jeep Cherokee being driven at speed towards the building with flames coming out from underneath.
The airport has been evacuated and all flights suspended following the incident.
Taxi driver Ian Crosby said: “This was no accident. This was a deliberate attack on Glasgow Airport.”
The reaction of members of the public was not to help the men in the car, but to restrain them, he told the BBC.
Two men, one of whom was reported to be badly burned, were seen being led away in handcuffs.
Looks like they’re having a busy weekend in the UK.
Update: The hospital where at least one of the arson car occupants was taken has been evacuated. Turns out he was wearing an explosives vest!
The vest was removed and detonated by police.Latest reports say the police are disassembling and examining the device. [No one does the "disarming the infernal device" movies better than the Brits. "Juggernaut" Rules!]
Update: One of the two suspects arrested is in critical condition from injuries in the arson attack. The second is in police custody, as well. CNN now says there was a third suspect in the attack and he died inside the car.

I think the basic leaning of “moderate Muslims” ranges from “its nice to see everyone on Saturdays and have a laugh” to “fuck off, I don’t want to talk about religion, lets go get a pint” or “If my mother phones, tell her that I was at the mosque last Saturday, I just sat at the back and no one saw me.”
Basically, the same view that most people seem to have of their religion. Nice to have a building to hold the occasional ceremony in, but other than that just another thing in life that is trying to steal your time and money.
There seems to be a small micro-trend in the UK of radical Muslim’s being harvested from the kid of moderate Muslims. Basically, the parents came to the UK, did everything to fit in, the kids grew up constantly told to work and ‘act British’ then when they hit teenage hood they want to rebel, so instead of becoming punk rockers they join radical Islam. Unfortunately the ones that blow themselves up miss the bit when they realize they were being pillocks and that life isn’t that clear cut.

Is the corporation PEPSI an irish individual? How about McDonalds?
So to say ‘American’ is more apt than to say Irish American since I’m sure most of those working for Pepsi Co aren’t Irish?”
Pepsico and McDonalds are corporations which, like many others, engage in charitable giving. Neither the stockholders nor the employees of those corporations ever knowingly, explicitly donated money to Gerry and his merry band of murderers. What they did was contribute money to one or another ostensibly legitimate Catholic charities which, unbeknownst to many of their benefactors, were actually funnelling some of that money to the IRA.
The only people in America who knowingly, deliberately sent money to the IRA were Irish-descended Americans and Irish nationals living here, who I lumped together as ‘the Irish’. Nobody else here has any credible motivation to do so, as I obliquely alluded to in my mention of various ethnicities who don’t have a dog in that particular fight…
45-62==I resent characterizing Pepsi or McDonalds as American. They are international corporationa. They may have started in GOUSA and may (but maybe not) receive most of their income in GOUSA, but are no more America than any other international corporation.
To that end, I can see alot of benefit to “outlawing” (both illegal and unlawful) corporations from doing anything else but make money. No politcal speech, no charity.
The ruse is that such non business related activities boosts their image and therefore sales, but I don’t buy it.
McDonals is not Irish. Darn it, I’m completely distraught.
Silly pedro, of course McDonalds isn’t Irish. As the name would suggest, they serve fine Scottish cuisine.
The only people in America who intentionally, deliberately sent money to the IRA were Irish-descended Americans and Irish nationals living here, who I lumped mutually as ‘the Irish’.
