From CollateralMurder.com:

WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad — including two Reuters news staff.

Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-site, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. Two young children involved in the rescue were also seriously wounded.

Why is the road so empty at this hour? Where are they?

  2. Wolfsbane says:

    Facts not mentioned here.

    1. According to the press’ own regulations, they’re supposed to be wearing outer garments that identify them as press. They weren’t.

On the flip side, the reason for that is by wearing them, it undoubtedly makes them highly visible as a target for insurgents.

    2. In Iraq, if you’re press, you don’t go anywhere without being in a heavily armed party, ever. If you do, you become unwilling participants in insurgent propaganda videos. The US Army most certainly knows this.

    3. The ninety days leading up to this event happening, saw the highest number of US casualties occurring during any similar length of time. There was therefore a atmosphere of heightened dependence on aviation as a back up for ground troops.

There’s enough stupidity on the part of both parties, the press and the US Army aviators, to conclude they both share blame for this tragedy occurring.

    122,
I see you points and raise you…
    Listening to the video..
    Where are the guns?
    where is the rocket launcher?
Yes the camera looked funny with that LONG LENS..
But it was shorter then a ROCKET LAUNCHER.. You can actually SEE IT..

#120–smitty==when you are right, you are right. And even when wrong, if you go the extra mile and actually provide some facts and analysis, I can be quite liberal in my tolerance.

I see most people here ((Benji being the sad and customary exception)) basing their opinion on a set of facts, assumed or sourced from who knows where. Thats a good thing. Facts should always modify/change a position.

If you can’t change your mind, your opinion is worthless.

Another fact not being mentioned here is that the war was illegal according to UN resolution 1441, so every death that happened there was murder no matter the circumstances, even if it was in self defense.

  7. hello? says:

This was not an Apache helicopter, it was a ac-130 gunship. That is why they keep going around in circles. A helicopter could just hover in one place. “Bushmaster” is the huge Gatling gun that is used to shoot the innocent people.

When you consider how fucking far away these guys actually are from who they are shooting at, (the camera makes it seem they are WAYYYYY closer than they actually are) there should be a super strict burden to prove the identity of who you are shooting at.

There is no getting around the fact these guys were itching to shoot people and they murdered some innocents. Not to say it doesn’t happen all the time over there, and that the average American actually gives a shit, but it is a fact that they murdered them.

  8. Rick Cain says:

No it was an Apache, you could hear the 30mm chain gun, which fires pretty slowly since its single barrel.

The AC-130H is armed with a 105mm cannon and two 25mm 7 barrel rotary cannons.

  9. Gus says:

Mr Allen #15, It seems painfully obvious that attempting to rescue bodies from a freshly charred curb littered with other body parts and rubble is in fact a place that has a higher chance of having loaded weapons pointed in that direction.

And just because you have a masters does not mean that you have a lick of sense. Van man did NOT accidentally drive into a fire fight, he went in to rescue the survivor. I commend his rescue attempt but condemn them as well for dragging children who did not have the chance to choose to participate in the rescue.

If you didn’t read #59, read it again. And #105.

    Have a Nice Day! :-)

As if invading the country and stealing its resources is not enough. Naah, oughta shoot a few civilians armed with video cameras from an apache and storm in with a bunch of tanks, just to be on the safe side…true GI Joe spirit, true heroes of teh 21st century. Applause!

    What goes around, comes around.

  11. trollolololololol says:

well, did all of you towelhead lovers forget what they did to our holy land? to me this was still not enough to make up for what they did to our country(world trade center attack ofcourse). KEEP DUMPINNN

  12. ECA says:

    Trol,
I wonder if you understand what WE and the EU and the BRITS have done over the years to the middle east. Look up your history, esp around World war 1 and 2..
AND we have NEVER STOPPED trying to meddle into those affairs.

Lets also add up a few MINOR numbers.
about 2000 ppl killed in the WTB.
How many military killed in this War?
How many civilians?(I think this is about 3-5 times the military number)
Make that 2 WARS.. As this goes back to the 90′s in IRAQ.

    Consider a few things.
We are looking for militants..NOT MUSLIMS.
Do you know WHO we are looking for and WHY?
Bin Laden, and FOR QUESTIONING. There are no charges against him.
So, we jump into a nation, and NO BODY SHUT THE DOOR..we didnt MONITOR ALL the borders, which would have taken MILLIONS of military to do. THINKING that ALL of the militants were THEIR.
NOW, all we hear…THEY ARENT THERE..not the ones we want.

From the start of this war, we were like NEW DUCK HUNTERS…1 shot and a POND of ducks FLIES AWAY. THATS our excuse.

NOT that looking at a map and Seeing all the terrorism caused by the militants is ALL OVER the middle east and parts of the EU. WE ARNT FIGHTING THERE? WHY? Well, they have Gov that we acknowledge, NOT ONE we can SHOOT AND KILL.

Also, if you are old enough you will know this..HOW many attacks have been on the WTB?

If you want a small sample of the history(real small) look up BP’s history and name changes.
