This ad, featuring clips of Mitch McConnell, Pat Roberts, and many other Republicans implies that austerity cuts to the CDC and NIH are responsible for the 2014 Ebola outbreak.

  1. Egon Ruuda says:

Those numbers are lies, the only cuts has been in the proposed spending INCREASES and not the appartment budgets themselves.

    • Cap'n Kangaroo says:

So, adjusting for inflation, the budget has increased? decreased? or stayed the same?

      • Egon Ruuda says:

According to government sources, there is no real inflation at the moment, but shadowstats tracking indicates anything from 2-5% inflation of the money supply. Either way it has either increased (if you use the gov figures) or stayed roughtly the same, or a little higher if you go by the shadowstats numbers adjusted for inflation.

      • Dipstick says:

What fucking part of “PROPOSED” don’t you understand?!

… No, I’m not the OP here. But I do agree with him/her that “the proposed budget cuts” is what’s at issue — not any actual cuts that requires a majority of all Congressmen to agree to.

So perhaps you’d care to look at how “spending” in these areas for the NIH, CDC, etc. went down — which could be considered a good thing since the need for their services has [arguably] decreased. (Either that or the CDC, NIH, etc. doesn’t know how to waste Washington money.) But that’s not what the commercial said!

Clearly this is leftist spin that you commie lib-tards lapped up like thirsty dogs. My advice: taste test your master’s water before you drink it.

        • Cap'n Kangaroo says:

Egon Ruuda made a statement. I asked him a question, which he answered. Calmly.

You, on the other hand, go fucking ape-shit and start throwing around words such as “commie lib-tards” and advising “taste test your master’s water before you drink it.”

You make it so easy to disregard your entire post. You appear trigger-happy to slap labels on anyone who dares to question or think for themselves. I may have very well regarded the video as left-leaning claptrap, but your insults lead me to believe you misspelled your name.

          Isn’t your name actually “Dipshit”?

        • Tim says:

This looks like another hightly communicable case of an inept ‘agency’ (plausible deniability reps) saying we’re derps because we lack funding and

“… The state really is in charge of public health at the state and local level. It’s a constitutional issue. The CDC can’t just walk in on these cases. They have to be invited in.”

          http://usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/10/12/examining-the-nations-ebola-response/17059283/

Methinks they’re calling for some kind of setting aside of that pesky Consti which nobody doesn’t piss in a cup to care for anyways. Some kind of Emergency Health Powers Act. Who Knew?? Got seeds???

… 90% of economic costs of any outbreak “come from irrational and disorganized efforts of the public to avoid infection.”

          http://usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/10/13/ebola-nurse-who/17182599/

^^ shut the fuck up already and just approve my purchase of cheap duct tape and this bug light UV lamp… and paddle game… and my dog fucktarded toolhead … and that’s all i need….

  2. MikeN says:

Considering that the CDC director is saying that halting flights is a bad idea, they should cut the budget, starting with the director’s salary. Now reportedly the person who cared for Patient Zero is infected. Still no flights halted, just some questioning at JFK.
“Did you meet anyone who had ebola”
    “No”
    “Welcome to America”

  3. MikeN says:

Obama loves to give speeches to make it look like he is doing something.

On Sept 16, President Obama spoke at CDC. The chances of an Ebola outbreak in the U.S. were “extremely low.” The U.S. has increased airport screening so that no one with the disease can fly here. “In the unlikely event” someone with the disease does enter the country, he said, the government has taken “new measures” to assure that doctors are trained and hospitals are ready “to deal with a possible case safely.”

3 days later, Thomas Eric Duncan left the house in Liberia he had been sharing with a mortally ill Ebola patient. He lied about his contact with the woman, then boarded a plane for Dallas by way of Brussels and Washington’s Dulles airport. On September 25, he walked into Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, nauseous and feverish. Despite his recent exodus from Liberia, no one thought to test him for Ebola. Three days after that, he was finally admitted, and only then after a friend called the CDC.

    • Tim says:

      “”Obama loves to give speeches

Is that what the kids are calling it, these days??

  4. ECA says:

    Some points to ponder..

This has been happening for MANY MANY years.. the USDA and FDA cant monitor more then 8% of Food producing and restaurants in the USA..
They cant even monitor the GMO foods..they dont know what the corps are even doing with our food, byproducts, and OTHEr stuff we are eating..

As every company DOES.. when you CUT, you cut from the bottom.. Which means the ones that DO THE WORK, get fired, and all thats left is a BOSS..with nothing to do..

But even with all these cuts, since the 70’s… do we get any money back? NOPE..does Gov. cost less? NOPE.. it all gets funneled to OTHER POCKETS..

Something MANY of you may not know. is that EVERY major development in the USA has been PAID for by YOU..paying taxes.. From the RAIL systems, to parks, to the freeway system, and even the CELLPHONE system…Internet, and UPDATES to the internet, should have been finished YEARS ago, and was PAID for by YOUR TAXES…

Who is complaining the MOSt about government? the CORPS..they dont like regulations..Many of them started in the 70’s for pollution controls and food protection..

    • deowll says:

Yeah but they can do studies on what makes a happy marriage. That is part of their mandate right? Not the last time I looked but under Obama who knows? The Obama WH does what it wants without regard to legality.

  5. Peppeddu says:

I don’t think budget cuts are really to blame here (though they don’t help either), but it’s the lack of awareness/training necessary to help fight this disease.

That poor nurse’s probably got infected by not following the proper procedures not for lack of equipment.
Removing a hazmat suit that has been infected on the outside is kinda difficult.

    • MikeN says:

Special office was set up ten years ago for preparing for things like this. Notice how the holder of this office is not speaking in public. She was too busy sending money to special interest lobbies than to spend on doing her job.

  6. Obola incompetence has sickened every branch of government says:

You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.

    Rahm Emanuel

What plausible reason exists for Obama’s open borders/skies policy to Ebola infected masses?

    Choose one:

    1)He hates Americans?

2)Once the plague has created a crisis, fundamental change in America can be accomplished?

3)Elementary logic is a bridge too far.

    • deowll says:

You left out the possibility that Obama is an Ivory tower ideology who is out of touch with reality and is utterly incompetent as an administrator. I think that possibility would explain why he and his crazy progressive friends passed an unpopular heath care act that if implemented is going to seriously reduce the quality of medical care available to most Americans while driving up costs to staggering levels and now the pea brain is afraid to actually implement most of the law because of the expected backlash at the ballot box.

  7. MikeN says:

Thinking in the Obama Admin and the CDC and other bureaucracies is like this on the morning of 9/11(From the Commission Report):

FAA Command Center: “Do we want to think about scrambling aircraft?”

FAA Headquarters: “God, I don’t know.”

FAA Command Center: “That’s a decision somebody’s going to have to make, probably in the next 10 minutes.”

FAA Headquarters: “You know, everybody just left the room.”

  8. MikeN says:

Kevin Spacey played Ron Klain in Recount. Before that Spacey played an ebola doctor in Outbreak. So Obama decided that Ron Klain must be an expert on ebola.

  9. It is bigotry to treat Obama as less responsible than Bush says:

Fact is, after 911, CDC spending has almost doubled, precisely to handle the effects of biological terror, which would cover naturally occurring epidemics.

But bigots on the left refuse to hold Obama as responsible as they did Bush, for whatever goes wrong on their watch, regardless what it was.

For example, Bush and Cheney caused katrina…remember?

  10. Bill O'Reilly called for a flight ban says:

I agree, but not to the suggested location, so I emailed the following to him:

    Greetings Bill

I agree with your suggested quarantine, but not its location. Quarantine overseas, for 49 days (WHO 42+7).

yellen can print the billions required to pay for it, thus injecting much needed cash into African countries beset by the ebola Epidemic.

President Obola should consider, black Africans infected with Ebola most likely will infect black communities in America, so its “unjust, unfair, racist, bigoted and perhaps homophobic” to not ban flights from infected countries…at least till we have a fool proof cure for the affliction.

    peace
