AP Wire | 08/26/2004 | Talk show host Tom Leykis kicked in the head in Seattle.. An irate caller apparently took exception to an insult. Perhaps this will become a trend. The fact is that Leykas is just a guy doing a radio show. I’ve met the guy and done his old show in LA. The guy you hear on the radio is largely a character he “plays.” Apparently he plays the character a little too well.

Poor Tom. He is no different than the online bullies in the linked NYT article — except that he actually makes a living at it. I am tired of media bullies like him and Limbaugh et al getting away with reprehensible behavior just because they are members of the media. That kick in the head may have been inexcusible, but I’d like to see all his ilk get a figurative kick in the head.
