Over the last year we have been bombarded with all sorts of overhyped figures of browser market share. With the latest release of Firefox 2.0 they are now claiming 2 million downloads in 24 hours.
Wow that sounds great until you do the math and realize that is only 0.18% of worldwide Internet users.

Holy Crap! Am I the only person using Opera here? I honestly do not understand why everyone is not using Opera. Is it the name? Perhaps they should change it to Rock n Roll.
I am online 5-8 hours a day and have very few issues. I run Ad-Aware once a week but it almost never finds anything anymore. This is after having to reformat my hard drive to gety rid of spyware that got through IE.
When Opera does have an issue it’s usually with a site which requires active x controls (logmein.com) or heavy java. The java issue has improved greatly with version 9.
I tried Firefox but it just looked like a copy of IE to me. It was also slow and resource hungry compared to Opera.
lol, maybe because early adopters learn their lesson. sort of like when I immediatly download the latest iTunes update. That sucked.
I’ll wait a few months for them to work out the bugs in Firefox 2.0…
#31, I got my wife to stop using IE and go with Opera. I used it for awhile and agree it is a good browser. The wife now loves Opera and I’m only FF, more out of habit then anything meaningful between the two.
The disadvantage of statistics on this site is that most people here are technically savvy.

That being said: I use IE6 on my work PC (I’m not an admin) and use FF 2.0 on my private PC and on all the PC’s of all my friends/family that I have to support.

Upgraded to 2.0? I couldn’t even get 1.5 to run without bogging down my computer so I downgraded back to 1.0.7
