CTV.ca | Sexual advances at singles bars common: study — OK, so reader Jack Rice sends in what is a stupid story. Apparently real money was spent to prove in a study that men actually do try to pick up women in bars. Golly, a shocker. But when you begin to read the story much of todays pick-up lines are in the form of a dry humping in public. I mean, what kind of bars are we dealing with here. In my day I would have been slapped silly for some of these “moves.” What changed? Or is this all BS!

At least 80 per cent of women surveyed in a new study say they have been approached in a sexually overt way while at a singles bar.

The study, “Sexually overt approaches in singles bars,” published this month in The Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality, surveyed female university students aged 18 to 28. Most of the women were in their first year of an undergraduate program.

The women said grinding behaviours and buttock-touching were the most common ways that men approached them.

The ‘grinding from behind’ tactic was reported by 83.9 per cent of the women surveyed, and ‘grinding pelvis-to-pelvis’ was reported by 68.3 per cent.

Buttock-touching ranked second with 82.5 per cent, breast/chest touching was reported by 37.8 per cent of the women and genital touching 25.9 per cent.

In Canada we girls love the gropers!

With society today, girls grow up thinking this is normal. That is why they deal with it/enjoy it.

You’ve got to squeeze and shake the melons to be sure they’re ripe. Nothing worse than getting home with a green sour melon. 🙂

I’d suggest a simple pickup line.

    “Are you into astrology?”

    “Why?”

“Because I’d like to explore Uranus.”

Would you prefer the “Worship me, give me diamonds, dump your friends and worship mine, it’s okay for you to have female friends but you have to get rid of them because a woman that befriends a man is a whore, my necesities are above yours always, don’t touch me unless I want to, Cosmopolitan reading” women?

Hum drink alcohol so I lower my inhibitions then I grope women in said bar. Man I would have never had thought of that…

  15. Greymoon says:

This always works as a pick up line. Tell Chuck Norris jokes.

A bear and Chuck Norris met up in the woods one day. The bear moved into for the attack and Chuck showed the bear his fist. The bear promptly began to eat itself as this would be a less painful way to die.

Yikes #5. They said it was common, not “common and perfectly acceptable.”

It’s a tricky situation if you are in a bar dealing with someone who’s totally hammered. What’s a girl supposed to do? Tell him to stop? he probably won’t listen. Slap him? then she could get charged with assault, or maybe beaten up or something. What else? It’s illegal for most women to carry mace. There’s not really a lot she can do except walk away. That doesn’t mean it’s acceptable. You can’t chalk it all up to girls with loose morals. Cripes.

If the woman is the instigator, I would imagine it’s easier for a man to fend off unwanted advances. If it’s consensual then the rules are different. The study said they went into clubs with a “sexual atmosphere” and didn’t factor in alcohol consumption at all. That’s what makes it a stupid waste of time and money.
