My Way News – NYC Man Claims Drink Caused Big Problem — This drink would probably sell like hotcakes after this story ran, except for the hospitalization! I suspect there was some sort of drug interaction that needs investigation. Something fishy is going on with Novartis in general.
A man has sued the maker of the health drink Boost Plus, claiming the vitamin-enriched beverage gave him an erection that would not subside and caused him to be hospitalized.
The lawsuit filed by Christopher Woods, of Manhattan, said he bought the nutrition beverage, which is made by the Novartis pharmaceutical company, at a drugstore on June 5, 2004, and drank it.
Novartis’ Boost Plus Web site describes the drink as “a great tasting, high calorie, nutritionally complete oral supplement for people who require extra energy and protein in a limited volume,” in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.
Woods’ court papers say he woke up the next morning “with an erection that would not subside” and sought treatment of the condition, called severe priapism. They say Woods, 29, underwent surgery that day for implantation of a Winter shunt, which moves blood from one area to another.

My wife just e-mailed this to me. Why did I KNOW this would show up here? 😉
The problem was the poor guy drank it quickly instead of taking it in slowly with a Sporkk.
Follow up to news..
Mother of affected 29 year old victim suggests to son that it’s time that he get a girlfriend.
29 year old victim ignores her and goes back to obsessively cruising iPhone blogs awaiting the release of the greatest thing ever, while mumbling “Steve… Steve… Steve” incessantly.
Well the guy did want a boost.
Would Woods’ wood ever fade?
So a page walks into Congress and asks, “What do you recommend for a chronic priapism?”
The rest just writes itself. . .
Note that his name is Woods…
As they say – watch out for the small bones
How in hell could an energy drink cause priapism to the point where they had to install a shunt? He’s going to have a tough time proving this in court.
Great they make this stuff in my town. Bet this makes sales take off. story was probably was planted by the local marketing team.
Hey, everyone said they wanted more hard news.
