This vid was supposedly shot in Saudi Arabia where women are all covered up in these black outfits. I never thought about this before, but apparently this makes eating spaghetti incredibly difficult. Just nuts in fact.

Gives pie-hole a whole new meaning. Maybe Allah is against spaghetti as a competing diety?

  2. SN says:

I find it hard to believe it was shot in Saudi Arabia as they were sitting pretty close to that western man. As far as I know women and men cannot eat together in public there. Restaurants have separate areas for women and children away from men. A husband cannot even sit with his own wife in a restaurant in Saudi Arabia.

  3. prophet says:

I am guessing London or another British metropolitan area.

  4. SN says:

    3. Definitely.

  5. Craig says:

That’s gotta be a handicap in the world of competitive eating.

  6. Mister Mustard says:

Must be a real bitch to have a “god” that won’t let you show your face in public. Kinda makes you wonder why he didn’t create woman with a built-in burkqa. Or built-in dynamite sticks, for the gents.

  7. knights_templar700 says:

All the orthodox versions of religion enslave women, not just Islam. But you think American women are free? They look free because they aren’t wearing black hoods but their mind master is Cosmopolitan Magazine.

Compliance, servitude and conformance apply in every culture, and here, in America that means the Media is God.

Of course here, women can eat spaghetti but then go home and vomit it out because the calories. The Calories.

  8. SN says:

    6. “Kinda makes you wonder why he didn’t create woman with a built-in burkqa.”

Maybe that’s why Muslim men all wear thick beards.

  9. Canadian says:

Funny thing is that it’s not a religious thing that they have to wear that get up. It’s cultural. they were wearing those before Islam was even there.

  10. Jägermeister says:

    Mm-mm… Burqa babes

  11. BubbaRay says:

#10, Jägermeister, how on earth did you get that photo???

That’s DIck Cheney 2nd from left and D. B. Cooper on the right!

  12. Shubee says:

#2. And that white woman wearing a white blouse doesn’t have her head covered. Aren’t visiting western women in Saudi Arabia supposed to be wearing a scarf?

  13. JimR says:

Does anyone wonder what it looks like under the veil at the end of the day? …egg yolk from breakfast, mustard and ketchup from lunch, spaghetti sauce, cake crumbs and chocolate sauce from dinner…
and a clean stripe across the eyes.

  14. WhoCaresAnyway says:

That has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever seen.

  15. RBG says:

I too think it is unlikely to be Saudi Arabia. The man/woman in the front right would not being wearing a T-shirt, as even the men have to cover arms & legs. There also seems to be a BBC “bug” imprinted top left, that has the final syllables “….rica.”

Except… I understand that in places like the oil cities of Damman the rules are a little looser where women can even drive.

BTW… last frame… why does the guy in the background appear to have electrodes attached to his chest?

    RBG

  16. RBG says:

Btw, you should see THEIR eye-rolls in their country when you eat with your left hand.

Btw Btw: There are places in Saudi Arabia where they would kill you for taking a picture of their women.

  17. Let’s query some people actually FROM Saudi Arabia..or someone who works there before be theorize what we all think. I know it would be possible in Dubai to see this scene. And it has a lot of the same women in black. The “I don’t think this” or “I don’t think that” is ridiculous. It’s based on what? The reports from the local news? Or what? CNN? So let’s ask can a husband sit with his own wife in Saudi Arabia? Says who?

  18. bobbo says:

17—How come you’re getting all PC over this clip that you posted yourself with the caption of it being an “eye-roller?” That sets it up for mocking, which so far has been pretty mild. “Supposedly from Saudi Arabia” certainly requests a discussion on where the clip might be from?

If opinions were based on reports from CNN, this would be a high minded blog indeed. I recall stories of religious police going around making sure women are covered ((could have been Afghanistan, but news about Saudi is restricted as we want them to be our buds)) and certainly the good time stories of women being sentenced to death for getting themselves raped. Is CNN lying when it reports these things as facts?

So let’s ask can a husband sit with his own wife in Saudi Arabia? /// Why ask that? More fun to ask if a wife can sit in public without her husband. Thats why this flick deserves more derision than I have seen. “nuts” indeed.

  19. bobbo says:

18–#7 Certainly goes overbroad in his assessment. Only the judeo-christian sects denigrate wimen. The error is made when he extends the enslavement argument to non-christian cultures like here in the GOUSA. Afterall, wimen aren’t required to read Cosmo, and thats a key difference.

He must have got that idea from watching too much CNN.

  20. RTaylor says:

I believe the bug under the m90 on the upper left is BBC Africa. The feed off the youtube site is a bit better.

  21. SN says:

    17. “It’s based on what? The reports from the local news? Or what? CNN? So let’s ask can a husband sit with his own wife in Saudi Arabia? Says who?”

It’s based on a first hand account of a woman who lived in Saudi Arabia.

  22. sayuncle says:

And in Arabia, right now, they are watching a CNN special about a pie eating contest and thinking: so THAT’S why americans are so obeese.

  23. ethanol says:

    Bobbo (#20),

Don’t leave out Buddhism. All these idiotic Holloywood types don’t understand that in Buddhism a woman is severely restricted. Or Hindus, that believe in time of misfortune, women are to blame.

The point being that all old religions do have a bias against women. Only the extreme literalists support those biases today. The most common and available example is Islam.

  24. Jerk-Face says:

    24. “in time of misfortune, women are to blame. ”

Isn’t that a law of physics? If not, it should be.

  25. bobbo says:

24—Two interesting reads. Guess the little bit I’ve read before was to and for males? You know, everytime I give religion a break, I’m wrong.

Keep that edumaction coming. Can’t get enough of it!!

    Thanks.

  26. NappyHeadedHo says:

    Trick or treat!

  27. iamanassholetoo says:

#2 is obviously full of shit.

I’ve been there in a 5 star restaurant and have seen Saudi women eating with the men. Of course these were probably hypocrites that were above the law.

The veils even came off, but we avoided openly looking at their faces due to fear of their laws.

  28. SN says:

    28. “#2 is obviously full of shit.”

I may be full of shit, but I was relying on a first hand account of a woman who lived in Saudi Arabia. If I had to chose between her being right or you being right, I’d pick her.

  29. bobbo says:

28—Well, according to CNN (?) posted here last week, women can be in the company of men if they breast feed each one of them 5 times? So, its not surprising that you would see the local breast feeding club eating out. I may not have that exactly right as breast feeding may only be appropriate if you drop your veil when your husband is not present at the same time. In those circumstances, I think the other men can only take one lick with no repeats.

These customs have been honed over the ages and represent the height of Muslim spirituality. I don’t know what happens on Thursdays.

  30. g2 Analyst says:

We certainly do not understand this culture.
    Stay tuned more to come.
The cold ends and now back to the previous show.
It is not flash in the pan.
    Get ready for more fun.
    So much for women’s lib.
