Buggery Lurks. 1950’s Instructional Film About Mentally Ill Bow-Tie Homosexuals
Apparently the 1950’s were crawling with creeps including a guy who plays basketball with a bow-tie and suit. Are bow-ties a sign of homosexuality? Code?

No wonder anyone over 50 is jumpy. I mean can you imagine having to watch these movies in school over and over. Sick. I like the line “We must obey the Civil defense worker!” But what if he is the gay predator in the previous movie? Hmm.

I love how the guy on the tractor ducked and covered under his still moving tractor.
*FLASH*
Duck & Cover!
*Crunch*
*Splat*
Gosh Wally, Eddie showed me why that creep Lumpy is called Lumpy!
Aww, Beave don’t be such a goof, you should’ve Ducked and Covered….
Gee WHIZ!
Cheers
Flash forward, in 2007 we have Global Warming to make us jumpy.

The 00’s concerns laughed at in 50 years? Let’s see: terrorism; hate crimes, child abuse, tolerance. And kids drawing pictures of guns in school.
“I like the line “We must obey the Civil defense worker!” But what if he is the gay predator in the previous movie? Hmm.”
That’s right!! What happens if the grown up older person is wearing a bow tie…and has a basketball? AHHHHHH!
How did we ever grow up halfway normal? I still get the creeps when I heard the tornado warning siren tests when I was in MN…
Cheers
If you ride your bicycle really fast, you can outrun a nuclear blast.
If you ever see a creepy guy hanging around the public restroom, run and tell your creepy priest or creepy minister immediately, even if the guy tells you he’s a Senator. Telltale signs to look out for include a “wide stance.”
Well unlike little Bobby, I know to always stay away from public restrooms. All of this Senator Larry Craig news lately has just highlighted the need to avoid public bathrooms! I may feel sorry for the mentally ill bow-tie wearing homosexuals portrayed in the above video but I sure don’t want to be their next victim!
Yes, that newspaper or thin sheet will surely shield you from the atomic bombs fireball!
Gee for 50 years pubic bathrooms have been the grown up bow tied hangout.
So why after 50 years nothing has been done to make them safe? That’s the job for grown up bow tied politicians…Oh dear, I answered my own question.
John may have coined another euphemism for gay men – “bow ties”!
Once again DU goes down in history…hmmm that didnt come out quite right….but you got the meaning! (I’ll be banned now for that..)
Cheers
Interesting – monkey as a suicide bomber
5. Janky-o ditto
Add: back then:
Doors unlocked
Thumbed rides
Kids walked to school, played outside til dark
Thankfully we don’t need “sick,” unnecessary “propaganda” films to make us jumpy – real life has taken care of that.

You are way more safe in the current age than in the 50’s. Talking about kids and unlocked doors thingy. There are less kids getting abducted then back then (usually a family member), less rape, less sex crimes less incest and I still leave my doors unlocked.
Blame it on the news. More ways to get info and more people reporting the crime then letting it go (thinking of rape and sex crimes). It just seems worse. Society now is not afraid of talking about topics that were off limits back then.
So keep your doors open, let your kids walk to school.
By the way, I remember when in elementary school we had to duck under our desks in case of a nuclear attack. Mmmm…..
Awww, I was waiting for Tucker Carlson’s cameo. There’s a mentally challenged guy if I ever saw one.
Jimmy is cute. I wonder where I put my suite and tie…
14 Dominic. So where’s the jump-inducing propaganda: then or now?

The folks who advocated “duck and cover”, were not totally right. Tragically, children who practice the”duck and cover” strategy when buildings collapse die needlessly.
Are bow-ties a sign of homosexuality?
Sen Paul Simon?
Orville Redenbacher?

Uh, yeah, I was just wonderin….uh, mmm hmm…where the newspaper boy was.
Guess whoooo.
Sorry to leave you soo many messages. Just lonely here.
Thinkin about the muscley-arm paperboy…
1st video,
seems more to be a bunch of Pedophiles then gays..
2nd video,
its funny, that they DIDNT know the difference of ducking or NOT.
Later the only difference in ducking was HOW LONG it took you to die from radioactive posioning, or DIED in destroyed buildings when the roof caved in or the walls fell in..
Yup, folks. Pretty funny. What a shame you weren’t there to be taught constant fear that you could be incinerated at any moment, or plastered against a wall to ooze down the bricks.
Of course, not a lot has changed. King George (remember him?) has reintroduced the reign of fear and successfully set the stage for the coming coup. Just think how much fun we will have in his third term during the national emergency.
Grandpa
I have to wonder why little jimmi was released on probation to his parents after ralph was busted for homo child perv-ness.
Oh never mind, it explains it. Apparently little jimmi was infected with ‘homosexual’, no less dangerous and contagious as smallpox. Probation under parental custody = homosexual quarantine I guess.
#21 “Seems more to be a bunch of Paedophiles then gays.”
In the 1950’s what was the difference?
#23 Back then kids were afraid of ‘getting into trouble’ so “just do what you are told and you won’t get into trouble”
I do agree with the comments that the media reports does make it see more than what it is. But back then it was more ‘innocent’ is the word than today.
Regarding media beat ups (no not China) I was in Australia when Newcastle north of Sydney had the ‘big’ earthquake – which is unheard of in Australia. Afterwards every earthquake, tremor in the world was reported to the point where 60 minutes had a special report “Is the Earth Breaking Up?”
This went on for a while until finally the the head of the Australian seismology department made an announcement that seismology wise the Earth that year was rather quiet what had changed was that every tremor in the middle of the ocean even is getting press where as before it hadn’t.
So be wary of what you hear in the media – they are after all a ‘for profit’ organization.
So it is safe to talk to a senator even if he has a bow-tie in a bathroom….shooting hoops. 😉
Cheers
No wonder we all zoned out in the sixties, the fifties were several horrors all rolled into one. Especially when one of those horrors was my childhood. But the sixties, from what I can remember of it (including my time in another little horror; Vietnam), were pretty laid back. There were cool drugs, lotsa liquor and I didn’t really get too uptight about anything, except running out of booze.
Well this will cheer you up!!! I added some more Babe pics…including petra…………..
“Duck and Cover!” and wait to die while hoping you are inside the vaporisation or blast radius and not just outside in the fallout zone.
Of course, this doesn’t compare to a video I once saw from the ’50s by the Army, where they were conducting a training exercise where they used a nuke against a simulated mass invasion force to blow a hole in the lines with the troops a few miles outside the blast zone. Who were then sent into the area only a few minutes later. Makes me feel real warm and fuzzy that they stopped doing that a few decades before I joined.
You tell me:

Angel, what do you think?? Have we all been missing the signals? Ack! We need to know the signals so we don’t embarrass ourselves.
Gotta love the rapist mustache 😛
“Riding in the shadow of death”
And I can’t help but think that the pieces on the first video could be on a Dragon Quest Game.
Even a newspaper can save you ! … Sure. I bet if everyone in hiroshima and nagasaki had covered, they would have survived!
… The More you know.
Now that you mention it… a lot of old republicians seem to favor the bow tie. Not saying that they’re all gay. But if John Poindexter was any indication (Iran-Contra), then they shouldn’t be trusted, in any case.
I think the only place “duck and cover” has ever worked effectively is in Japan. Where frequent quakes make it a wise practice to follow. But to sell it as an effective lifesaving technique against atomic blasts, is of course completely screwy. If you’re lucking enough to be far enough away from the detonation, that the heat and radiation won’t kill you. Then you might have just enough time before the shock wave reaches you, to seek something better than your desktop or locker door, to keep the roof from crushing in on you. But they never designed a single building to allow fast access to a basement or safe room. Not even for hurricanes, which are far more likely to happen to anyone.
So this whole “duck and cover” campaign was a total farce, that even the military and governmental authorities had to know was useless.
But it was an answer to the publics next question, “Why have these damn nukes threatening us at all? Can’t we negotiate a treaty or something?”. No! Instead we got pacified into believing mushroom clouds were survivable. And a cold war build up nuclear weapons.
Without “duck and cover” we might have come to our senses and stopped all this crap, before anyone had the chance to become nuclear billionares. And we can’t have that, now can we?
