I just saw their version of Smoke on the Water…somehow they morphed it into Smoke on the Hayseed Country Hoedown! YIKES!

  5. OhForTheLoveOf says:

That is the most muther freakin awesome thing I have seen all year!

I would kick a puppy in the face if I thought that doing so would get me tickets to that show!

  6. Tokabowla says:

I remember this! It was on the VMA’s in 1992 or 93. GAWDAWFUL!

  7. admfubar says:

Leningrad Cowboys are a creation of finnish a movie maker, a-la Spinal Tap conept… the movies produced by them are done in a deadpan silent, (the cowboys dont speak) form. check for the Leningrad Cowboys Go America, it will give you a chuckle.

  8. OhForTheLoveOf says:

How can anyone not like that clip? Combine a classic anthem of southern rock with a Russian men’s choir and the Eastern Bloc version of Bachman Turner Overdrive…

    What is not to love?

  9. igor says:

    “on health”

  10. Jezcoe says:

I have loved the Leningrad Cowboys since seeing their first movie. I also remember seeing this on the VMA’s, mostly because I was surprised that MTV could once again do something cool and edgy. It was this moment and this moment alone that rang the death knell of the Soviet Union and the victory of Reaganism 🙂

  12. ZZ says:

We were talking about bringing The Leningrad Cowboys to play several concerts in US early 1990’s, but the survey showed the yanks would not understand the joke. It finally only worked inside the music industry in the way MTV did it.

LC made 19 LP’s as the Sleepy Sleepers punk rock band before becoming the Leningrad Cowboys. It’s amazing they didn’t get thrown to jail for ridiculing the USSR and Finnish governments, I guess it helped when they claimed to be the worst rock band in the world.

  13. Hoo Hoo Nick says:

I love this, this is really original and leningrad cowboys are really talented. They usually are a tad bit too energetic for my taste, but i do love to watch/listen the occasional song.

Their version of born to be wild is great as well. Though the video of that one on youtube looks like a concept stolen from the game “Quest to fame” with aerosmith, or vice-versa. But now we’re getting really obscure.

  14. cheesegod says:

The Leningrad Cowboys are great. You should hear their cover of Gimme All Your Lovin’ for maximum awesome.

  15. aubre says:

    This Alabama native loved it.
