Pro-Wrestler-turned-Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura went on Larry King Live Tuesday and unloaded on a variety of topics, including his take on the 2008 presidential candidates, what he’s looking for in a commander-in-chief, and whether he plans on running for president. Ventura told King that he thinks it’s time for a revolution in the United States, that we are a nation of “lemmings,” and that the only difference between the two major political parties and street gangs are that the politicians wear Brooks Brothers suits. After blasting the two-party “dictatorship” in America, he gave his opinion of the three presidential candidates (hint: it wasn’t very favorable). And he reserved special judgment for the “chickenhawks” who he said marched the country into war in Iraq.

If he runs for President he should get King Kong Bundy to be his V.P.
AWESOME! Jesse RULES! We need more people like him speaking out.
And he’s damn right about the corporate republican & democrat crooks. They’re paid and controlled by the same people (private bankers and the military industrial complex).
“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”
“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”
“Every generation needs a new revolution.”
“Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.”
You know, its a mighty sad day when a washed up phoney ex “Pro Wrestler”, makes more sense to me then the people who are running my country. Good for Jesse, I wish he and Ron Paul would get together as Independants and kick some ass.
There is a reason why Jessie was not re-elected to a 2nd term. He knew it and the voters knew it.
#5. Yet Bush was, so what’s your point. State specifics.
#5 And there is a reason why some people are happy with the status quo in this country…
Sadly Mr. “The Mind” Ventura’s 911 truth sympathies kill a lot of credibility for me.

So even when they make perfect political sense, remember crazies are still crazy.
Ventura is old news. If you guys really want to get bleeding edge, watch for Ric Flair to run for office in North Carolina… and win.
Richard Morgan Fliehr
“I’m the only man who can unite the party’s against the middle.”
OMG that was awesome!
#6 – everything is due to BDS, right?
Ventura gained the highest approval rating of any governor in Minnesota history, with some polls ranking his public approval as high as 73 percent in 1999.
However, later in his first and only term, a growing unwillingness by the public to accept some of his more controversial behaviors and statements led to a sharp decline in his popularity.
Lacking a party base in the Minnesota House and Senate, Governor Ventura’s vetoes were often overridden.
His incessant support of a unicameral legislature was his downfall. He could not get a grasp on political reality.
#11. Thats it? He tried to change the status quo, and people didn’t like it. C’mon, I need something substantial, what NO corruption? The guy is a maniac!!!!!
#4 – You know, its a mighty sad day when a washed up phoney ex “Pro Wrestler”, makes more sense to me then the people who are running my country.
Pro Wrestling is entertainment… But calling him phoney is to discount the athleticism required to be such a performer. Pro Wrestlers are actually some of the greatest stuntmen working today, and many display quite entertaining acting chops. Like wrestling, or not, you can’t deny he was good at it.
Further, don’t discount that he had a distinguished military career in the Navy where he served as a member of the Underwater Demolition Team and also as a SEAL.
He’s educated. He served as a mayor, and a governor. He was, in fact, my governor and although I was upset by his decision not to run for a second term, I think he was effective and honest and an example of what I wish more politicians would be.
He’s not “washed up”.
He’s smart and he’s lived his life on his terms. We should all aspire to have that said of ourselves.
#5 – There is a reason why Jessie was not re-elected to a 2nd term.
Correct.
That reason is that he didn’t run.
Yuck, the brunette Hulk Hogan do doesn’t suit him well.
#13. And I agree with all, it was intended as more of a euphamism than any thing else. I’m well aware of his service to the country.
Jesse is right,we are overdue for a revolution. Problem is, if there were still even one freedom loving protector of the Constitution alive Bush would be dead, so nobody is left to fight for freedom. Worse yet, nobody values the freedom we used to have and Americans seem to want Big Brother to watch over them.
Sad very sad.
I believe Jesse to be a man of his word. That does not mean I agree with everything he says or thinks on a situation, but I do not see him as a sycophant….Especially as compared to the flaming shysters running the government today (and for the most part, the past 20 some odd years)
a washed up phoney ex “Pro Wrestler”
I’m no wrestling fan and I hate that stupid crap. However, I’m friends with one of those guys, he’s maybe 42. He and his peers are beat all to hell, just like pro football players. They can’t walk, they have serious back problems and a few of them are doing well—when medicated. OK, they’re all f’in’ crazy, too, but mostly in a good way. 🙂 The young ones are very good athletes and can take a real hit. And Jesse’s message is a good one worth hearing.
@Angel
Yeah, because his hair is much more important than what he says 😉
#12 – You got it! All he could do was preach his gospel of a unicameral legislature. Over and over again, until the voters got sick of hearing him.
You live by the vote of the people and you die by the vote of the people.
The people of Minnesota spoke loud and clear.
Jesse “The Mind” gave tax refunds and as he left his office in 2002. The state of Minnesota went from having a state budget surplus, to a 4.3 billion dollar deficit when Tim Pawlenty took over .
way i see things, why not have him run? obama’s an empty suit, hillary’s just not who I like, and mccain is going to have a real disasterous foreign policy
@#8 Jezcoe …
The 9/11 Commission Report leaves more questions than it answered.
The 9/11 Truth Movement wants/demands answers to those and other questions.
Are you telling me that you got the full truthful story from your government about the 9/11 tragedy?
And you’re calling who crazy?
24-wow, believing that this inept government who has failed at every turn (the economy, foreign policy, etc.) could possibly pull off a coverup of 9/11’s magnitude without screwing it up?
I don’t believe the conspiracy theories about 9/11 not because I don’t think the government is that insidious (it is), I just don’t think it’s smart enough to pull something like that off.
Venture raises a variety of good points, but the biggest problem facing his revolution he mentions is the amount of money it takes to get involved. Until there are spending caps, until there are actual limits to how much money can be raised and spent there will always be epic levels of corruption in government.
Ventura raises good points? Yes, but about 80% of politicians raise the same points.
A “system” is out of whack when the participants see the rocks but can’t steer out of the way. The system here includes we the people, but in many ways, the politicians too.
The “system” is corrupt. It corrupts honest people trying to do the right thing, it further corrupts people out to benefit themselves.
Maybe just another way of saying that basically democracy doesn’t work. Most issues have 4-5-6 different types of stakeholders in the outcome. Legislation can only benefit one, at the most 2, of those positions. Result–2-3-4 alienated stakeholders. That is not only democracy-but any form of decision making.
I like Jesse and I think he would be a great President. I agreed with everything he said. As far as him being a maniac, I would rather have a maniac who believes in our constitution running our country than someone who is on record as saying that our constitution is just a piece of paper.
Who knows… maybe in 2012 we’ll have a real stand-up individual running our country and not a corporate hound shilling for Big Oil or the MIC.
12,
Not a maniac…HE IS NOT A POLITICIAN..
Which is WHAT we need.
He had the BALL, and the others wouldnt play with him.
What do you Want in office??
Some one to protect/HELP the PEOPLE.
Someone that is on OUR side, in Law, In Jurisprudence, Against those that would TAKE from us, Jobs, benefits, and so forth..
AND DO THE JOB HE SAYs HE WILL..
Dont sound like a Politician to me.
#4, #13 and #19 – Okay, so he’s a former wrestler. Big deal. Remember George “The Animal” Steele? He’s got a Master’s degree. Jim Duggan isn’t exactly a dummy, either, according to his sister (a SUNY Potsdam professor).
Ventura raises many good points – we’re stuck in a two-party system that only seems to care about defeating each other and seizing power. Our government has lied to us many times, sometimes for good reasons, other times for no reason other than avoiding its own embarrassment. More and more, it appears that the liberties our forefathers fought so desperately to preserve and protect are being eroded away, little by little.
America was once a glorious nation of which millions around the world wanted to be a part. Now, it’s a country that caters to the wealthy, the powerful, the elite.
What happens when your hard drive’s filesystem becomes corrupt? You carefully back everything up, wipe it clean, and start fresh. There are days when I wish we could do exactly that to our government. I say fire them all and let good, honest people take the wheel for a while. Our President’s approval ratings are less than 1/3, and Congress’ approval ratings are even worse. Why? Didn’t a majority of voters elect them?
I have believed, do believe, and will always believe in America. I love my country dearly, and I will stand by her through thick and thin. I would gladly serve her in any way that I can. Though sometimes, she is a bit of an embarrassment, to say the least.
#29–Mac Guy==so what is it about America that you love that makes it any different from what other people feel for their countries===other than the ones that really suck?
