I have to disagree. Its more likely these photos show the effect of being arrested and questioned by the police. ///Humor, off.

Seriously, yes, very good resource and the time line is good to know also. I’d like to see similar photos regarding other drugs. I can see maurijuana and cocaine after 30 years==and there is Keith and Mick looking better than us all?

First time I recall seeing this medical history is on affect of lungs after working in mines. Then cigarettes.

    Good stuff.

  3. Possibly a redneck says:

Jeff Foxworthy couldn’t have gotten that messed up in three months by just meth. He probably also got run over by a truck.

  4. McCullough says:

bobbo- “I can see maurijuana and cocaine after 30 years==and there is Keith and Mick looking better than us all?”

I need to get my Television set adjusted!!!

  5. badcowboy says:

I wonder if the health effects gained from weight loss balance the effects of the meth?

And how did that one women become the bride of Frankenstein?

  6. hhopper says:

(This is actually a “physical photoshop.” This girl was made up by an expert to show the effects of meth for a PSA.)

  7. Angel H. Wong says:

But people hooked on meth have no teeth! They’re perfect for giving BJs.

  8. RTaylor says:

If people behaved rationally there would be no addictions period.

  9. hhopper says:

    Angel you horny bastard!

  10. bobbo says:

#4–McCullough==or maybe I do??? Or are you just looking at their pictures “today” and not adding just the 30 years to their before pictures. Or, maybe I’m just looking at how skinny they are.

#7–Angel==I’d be careful where I put things with people that have no reason to live. In such cases, I guess no teeth is mandatory.

Reminds me of an episode of OZ, or maybe I dreamed it, but some tough white guy got his teeth knocked out with a hammer==foreshadowing his turnout as a punk.

I sometimes like to imagine I’m pretty tough, but I’ve never taken a hammer to the teeth either.

  11. Slatts says:

I have a problem with these photos in that I have known a couple of meth users for years and they don’t look much different from anyone else their age. OK they might be called a bit wirier if anything. And I would say one of them is a lot fitter than I am.
I fear this could this be another one of those “this is your brain on drugs” propaganda campaigns.
What worries me more is that if one so desperate about illicit drugs that one has to keep on lying about them; the problem is only going to get worse. Unfortunately that’s how it seems to work now.

  12. Jägermeister says:

#10 – bobbo – I sometimes like to imagine I’m pretty tough, but I’ve never taken a hammer to the teeth either.

    Or a chainsaw… I hope…

  13. MotaMan says:

these pictures are from a meth documentary – “the meth epidemic”

it can be watched (i recommend with commentary) on the PBS site.

crazy, all the meth (ephedrine) comes from a few factories in the world… meth is bad shit.

  14. Lou Minatti says:

The important question is: What’s to be done about this?

    – Decriminalize and let Darwinian evolution clean out the gene pool, thereby reducing the overall crime rate?
    – Do we commit these people involuntarily to clinics where they can be watched 24/7 for a few years?
    – Hard years of prison?

This stuff is horrifying, and I don’t think anyone knows what to do about it.

  15. bobbo says:

12–Jag==now you make me feel bad. (smile!). Anything in excess is bad. I knew a few folks who did casual drugs and they “liked” it–kinda like I do my Friday Beer Night when I can drink all I can whereas on Sat thru Thurs I am limited to a 12 pack==all to show I can control it.

“I don’t have an alcohol problem. I drink. I fall down. No problem.”

Now, is it “excessive” in any sense of the word/concept to go wading around in muck full of turtles, snakes, brain eating protozoa, some day an alligator, looking for a turtle with your feet that can take a toe off as simple as a guy with a hammer can take out your front teeth?

And then go back in 6 more times? How many turtles is excessive. The man has a turtle catching addiction! Such personal enjoyment should be prevented as a matter of law–just like drugs.

The Snopes review has some interesting responses indicating “Meth Mouth” is true.

  17. bobbo says:

#15–Lou==whats wrong with making all drugs legal but arresting people who are intoxicated in public for the purpose of mandatory counseling and education?

Education to include full exposure to scare straight programs and exposure to pictures like this.

I think it is COMPLETELY debateable what the harmful drug usage level would be were drugs fully legal. People would have no fears about getting early help, no one would be motivated to get you hooked, crimes would go down as no need to commit crimes to feed the habit.

Would certain people ruin their lives? Yes==those who decide to do so. Today, WAY TOO MANY INNOCENT PEOPLE are hurt by the drugs being illegal.

    Easy.

  18. MotaMan says:

    #16,17,18,19

Although I agree with what you’re saying, are you tweaking bobbo?

  19. Jägermeister says:

    #16 – bobbo

Agreed. Addiction is addiction, be it meth, beer, Internet usage, sports etc. We all have our addictions…

Hi, my name is Jägermeister and I’m an computerholic…

  20. Jägermeister says:

#18 – bobbo – Today, WAY TOO MANY INNOCENT PEOPLE are hurt by the drugs being illegal.

Legal or illegal, people die by using shit like this.

  21. Lou Minatti says:

“#15–Lou==whats wrong with making all drugs legal but arresting people who are intoxicated in public for the purpose of mandatory counseling and education?”

Bobbo, these people have the WORST chemical dependency possible. They aren’t harmless stoners looking for the nearest Dominoes Pizza. This is the most addictive sh** out there. It’s alcoholism x10. Counseling and education? LOOK AT THESE PEOPLE. “Counseling” will do jack.

So we’re left with how many choices now as a society?

    1. Let nature take it’s course. Decriminalize, pure Darwinian cleansing of the gene pool.
    2. Massive, lifelong intervention (i.e., forced institutionalization).
    3. Prison. Brutal withdrawal symptoms, then back on the meth as soon as they’re out of the pokey.

Me? I vote for #1, with intervention to remove any innocent bystanders (like children) and #2 for those who still have a shred of humanity left and want help. I think the rest should be allowed to do what they wish. If they want to kill themselves and they are adults, it is their right.

  22. elitist snob says:

computerholic…Wonder what those faces whould look like?
As for meth addicts we recently had two local lawyers busted neither looked that bad.

  23. JCdeR says:

Keep this away from for Scoble….. a transition like this will definately give him all the publicity, plugging and linkage he’se ever dreamt of.
On the other hand …. hmmmm might not be such a bad idea; A Scoble free social web….. win-win situation no?

  24. LtJackboot says:

I’ve been aquainted with several meth losers over the years and the only ones who look this bad are the homeless ones and they aren’t all homeless.

  25. Mr. Catshit says:

No, not every meth addict looks like this. Quite a few do though, or near enough.

As for an alternative to jail, would anyone care to list the alternatives available? I know our local county jail is half full with those charged with meth crimes.

  26. Drug rehab says:

These pictures are terrifying, they do all the talking and I have nothing to add here just that I am in shock that only after few months meth turn people into living deads.

  27. a says:

I’ll say I have nothing against drugs and stuff.
But this might be something else. I (by mistake)lived with a girl that was addicted to this stuff. She was going insane and looking like the people in the pics. She started by 13
and was in her 20’s. Crazy stupid bitch.

  28. Unknown1010 says:

What I Don’t understand is why a person would even think about using METH, when they know it’s a harmful, and deadly drug from the beginning. The people who are thinking about it should look at the choices you have. GOOD- live a healthy life, and make something good out of it, and don’t think your life sucks, because it don’t it’s just the way your looking at it… BAD- live judging YOURSELF, and not others, because it was your choice to start with in the first place. and for those who are addicted THERE IS HELP!! so stop saying there is NO help, BECAUSE THERE IS… you just got to put the drug down, (even if you think yo can’t handle it… we can at least say ‘you tried’.) go to the nearest rehab center, and GET HELP for your addiction. because the people who are waiting for you are on the other side, and they are here to help! if you miss being with the ones you love, stop before you get your next high, and ask yourself, “Do I Need This?”… The answer to that is, … THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
