Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said in an interview Wednesday that he was uncertain how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own. “I think — I’ll have my staff get to you,” McCain told Politico in Las Cruces, N.M. “It’s condominiums where — I’ll have them get to you.” The correct answer is at least four, located in Arizona, California and Virginia, according to his staff. Newsweek estimated this summer that the couple owns at least seven properties. In recent weeks, Democrats have stepped up their effort to caricature McCain as living an outlandishly rich lifestyle — a bit of payback to the GOP for portraying Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) as an elitist, and for turning the spotlight in 2004 on the five homes owned by Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry.

Pro-Obama labor groups have sent out mailers highlighting McCain’s wealth, and prominent Democrats have included references to it in comments to reporters. Twice in the past two weeks, those Democrats have focused on McCain’s houses. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) told Politico’s Ben Smith that it was McCain “who wears $500 shoes, has six houses and comes from one of the richest families in his state.” And David Axelrod, Obama’s chief strategist, referred in an interview with Adam Nagourney of The New York Times to an imagined meeting of McCain strategists “on the portico of the McCain estate in Sedona — or maybe in one of his six other houses.”

A problem we should all have. Does this explain why they “forgot” to pay their Real Estate Taxes?

Not sure how you define privilege? If you’ve seen life on a navy base, it can be OK, even good, but not privileged. Aside from the prep. boarding school, he’s been in the military his whole life. How does that compare to Ds like Kerrey and other Lefties who grew up between Europe and the Ivy League?

True, he did marry up, at least the second time. More power to him.

Yes, but humble beginnings. Didn’t become a “star” until at least in his 20s. Got his first Hollywood contract at the age of 26.

Privileged: Being the son and grandson of Navy Admirals and being in the Navy yourself.

The only mark of non-privilege would be that the Phillipino bus-boys indentured and sent all around the world’s navy bases don’t know who your daddy is while they shine your boots. But maybe that goes more to adoration.

#35 “Privileged: Being the son and grandson of Navy Admirals and being in the Navy yourself.”

And that added up to years of torture in as a POW. Don’t you wish you were as privileged as McCain?

I can see that “privilege” made his life easy and care free. LOL!

Do you speak from experience? Seriously, are you an Naval officer or Phillipino buss boy? And explain this indentured servitude you imply.

    No.

Is there a term for lusting after the elderly? BTW, do you like the smell of prunes?

Unless I’m missing something there was one cheap shot flat out lie.

The not paying taxes had nothing to do with the man.

His wife who does seem to have her own money was taking care of an aunt and forgot to pay the taxes for her aunt. Not the same thing at all.

As for the rest float you stick they way you take it.

  9. Paddy-O says:

#40 “His wife who does seem to have her own money was taking care…”

Many left wingers have a hard time believing that a woman could manage money on her own without taking orders from a man. Go figure…

    #22, Shit for brains,

Only idiots would bring up a home issue when their own home boy got his AND extra property via a CONVICTED scumbag in a barely-legal deal. Fine, make an issue of it, Obamamorons.

Jesus H. Christ !!! Here we have McCain so out of touch he doesn’t even know how many houses he owns. Instead the wing nut crowd have to deflect the criticism and complain about Obama’s house. So what is wrong with Obama’s house? A friend, years later, was found guilty of influence peddling bought an empty lot next door. In case you didn’t know, Rezco had not been convicted at this point. You know, as in still innocent.

None of that is relevant as some of McCain’s best buddies are also in the pokey or have run pretty fast from the scene. Duke Cunningham anyone? Ted Stevens? Larry Craig? Shall we go into Donald Rumsfeld’s taste for young boys?

BTW, Rezco also hosted a multi million dollar fund raiser for George Bush in 2003. Remember him? McCain’s best buddy?

Now, how is this a “barely legal” deal? It is either completely above board and legal or it isn’t. There is nothing except the wing nut, mouth frothing, blather that there is anything to this deal. He paid market price for both the house and later for the extra property. It was the sellers decision to separate the house and the empty lot.

Rezco’s wife later sold the empty lot and realized about $40,000 profit. The new purchaser has re-listed the lot for almost three times the purchase price.

How morally bankrupt you effen wing nuts are !!! Obama only has one house.

  11. deowll says:

Don’t feel sorry for him. If Obama gets elected he will most likely have several by the time he gets out of office.

If he doesn’t get richer while President he will be among the few.

Besides the only Confusion on McCain’s part was on Condos. He didn’t know if he was renting or owning which can be a subtle point with condos.

Not sure what was in his name and in his wifes either in that count though it should have just been his.

    >>without taking orders from a man.

Uh, I think that’s the RIGHT wingers’ position, Mr. O’Furniture.

Of course, they modify it in some cases, like McBush’s, where there’s a sugar momma slash beer heiress involved to be a $ilent partner in his campaign. There’s nothing like being a trust-fund baby to attract the right-wing “men”.

And how come nobody seems to object to the fact that McBush was banging his wife-to-be while he was still living with the old missus? Couldn’t he at least wait until the divorce to upgrade to the new trophy wife? All this moralizing talk, so little moralizing action. But hey. Nobody ever said the Repugs weren’t world-class hypocrites.

Uh huh- lets see “Mr, IRS man, I’m innocent because my WIFE forgot to pay OUR taxes. Yeah, that’ll work. Maybe for him, maybe you too….har!
