EconomicPolicyJournal.com: Ron Paul to Make Major Announcement Next Week — This is how Bill Clinton got elected when populist Ross Perot ran for President. There has to be some way a three party (or more) system can be made to work in this country.

Congressman Ron Paul will make a major announcement next week in Washington D.C. at the National Press Club.

Both Bob Barr and Chuck Baldwin are expected at the news conference. Barr is the Libertarian presidential nominee and Baldwin is the presidential nominee of the Constitution Party.

We don’t know exactly what is going on, but there is even speculation that Baldwin and Barr are stepping aside so that Paul can become the nominee of both the Constitution and Libertarian Parties.

The Montana Constitution Party has removed Chuck Baldwin from the ballot and is putting the ticket of Ron Paul for President and Michael Peroutka on the ballot for Vice-President.

I think it will be an appeal for a vote of non-competence. That’s my crystal ball, but we will find out tomorrow.

I kind of like Ron Paul. But I think a third party for President is just spilling into the wind, to make any difference. As long as their are few or no third and fourth candidates in the House and Senate. A figurehead third party President isn’t going to change a damn thing. Multiple parties in Congress would make it much harder for lobbyists to buy off everyone to vote their way. And even if they could, it would be so obvious to everyone that they had. But now, went the two US political parties overwhelmingly agree to some trade bill. Hardly anyone thinks twice about it. Though petty partisanship seems to derail everything else that passes thru Congress.

Besides that, “the wisdom of the majority” principle, would dictate that there should be more parties choosing policy, to have a wise majority. A majority of only two sides is lame.

We don’t have only two religions in the US. And we don’t have only two races. And we don’t have only levels of government (Fed, State, & local). We don’t have only two makers of cars. Nor only two means of transportation (Plains, trains, and automobiles). Nor only two credit cards. Nor only two choices of some many other things in our lives. And we certainly ARE NOT supposed to have only two economic classes in the US, because the middle class hasn’t been snuffed out yet! So why the H-e-l-l are we stuck with only two parties, deciding how our tax dollars get spent? Because it’s the easiest and cheapest to corrupt. And it’s why nobody ever plays a hand of two card monty.

while I don’t agree with everything Paul stands for (or the people who stand with him), he is a candidate who will shake things up and put some of the issues that no one talks about on the table, like the War on Drugs and the fact that our currency is a pyramid scheme backed by nothing other than “faith”.

I am a New York City liberal libertarian, and Dr. Paul is a fascinating individual, although he is tainted by his association with extremist racist groups.

I think Clinton and Paul should go together on a 3rd ticket. Could you imagine the hysterics? Oh, I would watch CNN all day!

  8. ECA says:

I would VOTE for a person, that Listens and TALKS to the Cits, in this nation..

  9. Rick Cain says:

Ron Paul is a pathetic Republican who honestly thinks he can reform the party.

It is beyond repair, finished, finito, the end. It is run by corporations and the wealthy, it has no concern for the poor or middle class, it has no real loyalty to this nation.

To flounder around, wasting RP supporters hard earned dollars on a worthless presidential venture in some silly idealogical crusade is just plain dumb.

I am an Obama supporter. Had his opponent been Ron Paul, if Obama were to have lost I wouldn’t be devastated. I’m okay with Paul. But McCain? I am severely disappointed of his self defamation of his character. What happened to the McCain of 2000?
