Your Uncle Dave’s gaming experience never got much beyond Doom II and Myst, so this level and depth of play is lost on me. Sweet hardware setup, though. It’s probably powerful enough to cure cancer.

A lot have asked me, why create so many? The main reason is to invade Stormwind and Ironforge when they reach top level. I’m sure the Alliance will put up a big fight when that happens. We’ll see how it goes. If they don’t make level 70 before Wrath of the Lich King, then it will be at level 80. That is my main goal. That will probably happen after I’ve got some PvP gear from the battlegrounds. I’m also planning to do some 25 and 10 man raid instances but that is secondary to my PvP goal. Of course I’ll be doing arenas too to build up PvP gear but I’m not expecting to do that great there because I’m way behind in gear right now. I need to get to level 70 first, then level 80 and by then I will probably have all green gear while most others have been doing the battlegrounds and arenas.

It costs me exactly $5711 in subscription costs per year with 36 accounts on the 6 month pay schedule. Not bad considering I’m looking at it like it’s a hobby and there are more expensive hobbies out there than World of Warcraft.

For my keys to send to all instances of WoW on my 11 computers, I use Octopus 1.3.2. Maximizer in Octopus allows me to start up all WoW instances at the same time or any individual instance such as if a WoW instance has crashed. It also allows me to shutdown all of the computers at the same time.

This guy is living! well almost

  2. lock_down says:

Well someone’s gotta say it…the guy is insane.

    But cool set-up though.

  3. fulanoche says:

$5711/yr! That’s more than my family spends on food a year.

  4. Sounds like a real hunter – a determined individual
Perhaps a social deviant who is a recluse as well
Then again he may be a social deviant who also enjoys nothing more than a Miller draft

It’s… That which has NO LIFE!!!

  6. soundwash says:

nice setup..wonder how many solar panels it would take to run all that..

i would imagine he uses 25% of those accounts to farm for gold or other sought after game items… he could easily make $5700+
a *month* ebaying game items and gold with that setup.. full tilt macro mode would yield 20k+ without blinking..

UD, I thought I was the only one with that sentiment. Every single one of my old college buddies keep up to date on the latest online games and constantly ask me to join up. I know I don’t have the will power to turn it off after a couple hours a week so I just stay away from them altogether 🙂

  8. RTaylor says:

Having mild OCD myself, I can take a wild guess what this guys setup is about.

More money than brains, and absolutely no life outside of the WOW.

  11. admfubar says:

how does he earn the money to support himself to do this all the time?
    sheeeeesssssssss… life is effed up……

  12. I wonder what this guy will do when he grows up.

  13. gquaglia says:

I’m guessing this guy doesn’t get laid.

  14. Jägermeister says:

    This must be Bradster

  15. Terry says:

    “cure cancer” …

I’d say enough EMF radiation to cause cancer 🙂

  16. mojotaker says:

What i want to know is, How does he earn money, obviously he dosent work. And i say that that is very unfair.

Look at all those computers, Used for nothing but games.

There are many people out there that cant even afford one of those and im sure will make better use of em, than what this guy is doing with em.

  17. Winston Tastes Good says:

This guy needs to take up smoking. Cheaper, healthier, environmentally friendly, transportable and leaves time for other hobbies.

  18. JayT says:

I don’t understand why everyone assumes that he doesn’t work? I personally have never gotten into WoW, but I have friends that go home after work each weeknight and play WoW for the whole evening.
Anyways, how much worse is this then the person that has full HD cable with the movie stations and a Netflix account? That can easily be 4-5 thousand a year.

  19. Montanaguy says:

No wonder our country doesn’t really make anything much anymore…most people are living in front of their opiate machine. It’s quite beautiful outdoors though, amazing resolution and the sound quality is impeccable.

  20. OmegaMan says:

Sheesh, why by redundant hardware? Most of the CPUs are sitting idle even playing…Why not get Virtual Server (free from Microsoft) and one fast box w/ lots of memory and setup multiple OS’s to run the item. Could have saved at least 1/2 as much.

  21. deowll says:

All I can say is that it is nice to know of somebody that may be less sane than I am.

Compared to running a big truck or van, a big bike, golf, high end sports fishing or hunting he may be right but why all the riggs? You can only play one at a time. Um maybe he needs them to run more than one character at time because the site can ID him?

  22. Ben says:

    *cough* virgin.

Is there a special fan system for that rig? I guess there would have to be to blow away all the body odor filled air away, because this guy obviously doesn’t use soap.

  23. Ron Larson says:

Lets see… $5711/year in subscription fees, plus electricity, plus broadband, plus computer hardware. Lets say he blows about $12k/year on his hobby.

    Still cheaper than a wife.

  24. Joe Somebody says:

@OmegaMan: 1 box running 36 WoW instances? No way. It’s far far cheaper to buy multiple machines than invest in a machine powerful enough to pull that off. 11 computers running 36 instances is still quite impressive if you ask me, they are probably all very well specced.
