Parents are being warned about fake imported Nintendo games consoles which could be a fire hazard and pose a danger to their children’s safety.

HM Revenue & Customs said it had seized hundreds of counterfeit Nintendo DS and DS Lites, which were discovered to contain dangerous power adapters.

Nintendo confirmed it had not produced the potentially dangerous adaptors.

Many had been bought for £40 instead of the usual £100 retail price.

“You might find you plug it in and the adaptor sets on fire or the wires start to melt and stick out,” she warned.

Everyone loves a bargain – no matter how stupid.

While the article doesn’t state it explicitly, when these devices aren’t catching on fire they do work. That’s the price Nintendo pays for using off the shelf parts.

How much you wanna bet these fakes are from China?

I want a DS like the one in the photo.

Then the answer is simple: Buy a real AC adaptor.

i’m guilty of buying mult-tap, multi-tip, non-UL chinese adaptors.. but its a conscious decision..

    i’ve found Coby/Transonic makes a few $6 1amp
adaptors that are made well…the caveat is that
have lead in them. (i have no kids around the house so..)

-i keep them on a switched powerbars nonetheless.

if doesn’t have a UL or CE listing on it (easily faked yes..) -it’s a fake or the reason why its so cheap..

This is nothing more than simple proof that video games, and more specifically, video game consoles are the work of the Devil.

Don’t you go trying to blame the Chinese on this one! I mean, it’s got to be the Devil right? Who else would want to burn down your house just for playing a few video games aside from Jack Thompson!
