TIJUANA, Mexico – Relatives of 100 missing people want to show photos of their loved ones to a man arrested in Tijuana for allegedly helping a druglord dispose of his slain enemies by dissolving their bodies in acid, a victims’ group said Saturday. Santiago Meza Lopez, known as the “Pozole Maker” after a local stew, is accused by Mexico’s military of disposing of 300 bodies for Teodoro Garcia Simental, a suspected former lieutenant of the Tijuana-based Arellano Felix drug cartel. The relatives have asked authorities for permission to meet face-to-face with the 45-year-old Meza, said Cristina Palacios, president of Citizens United Against Impunity, a group that represents families of missing people in Tijuana.

Meza was arrested Thursday and paraded by soldiers and federal police in front of reporters on Friday at a cement-block shack where he allegedly got rid of many of the bodies over several years. The security officers had Meza tell reporters how he did it: first dumping the corpses in large plastic bins filled with acid, then burying any remains. Surrounded by soldiers, Meza told reporters he helped get rid of 300 bodies. Meza has not been charged. Investigators have not identified any of Meza’s alleged victims or provided evidence to back up the 300 victims claim. “We are here because this arrest has given us a ray of hope,” Palacios said after meeting with Baja California state authorities.

Hmmm, As much as I like pozole, I think I’ll skip the Pozole Stew next time I cross the border.

  1. Angel H. Wong says:

    Hmmm.. Meaty stew.

  2. Greg Allen says:

This is just horrible. Mexico just gets more and more corrupt.

A big trillion-dollar boondoggle of a wall isn’t going to protect us from having a failed state on our on border.

Too bad America is in such a mess! I seriously doubt Congress or the Obama administration can give much priority to seriously helping Mexico any time soon.

  3. eyeofthetiger says:

Cooking a corpse in a barrel is a lot work in Mexico. Surly, and her sister – this guy probably ran a bath house, but really the Mexico military found their culprit? Piss in my water and call it tequila.

  4. gquaglia says:

Mexico is only a few years away from complete lawlessness. Its going to be like sharing a border with Somalia.

  5. fulanoche says:

    and the drug boss?

  6. Troublemaker says:

Well, at least he was employed.

  7. Joe says:

All this violence just to supply people in this country.

  8. Poppa Boner says:

That does seem a bit excessive, I mean, 100, sure, 200, maybe, but 300?

  9. kraut says:

What kind of chemicals do you need to dispose a human body and how does the process work in detail? Just curious.

  10. bobbo says:

I’m curious myself. I’d think the chemicals in the vat would quickly reach saturation or neutrality and lose their ability to dissolve. Then what do you do with the mess?

I’d also guess that no acid can dissolve “everything”–bone, hair, blood, stool etc. Or does hydrochloric acid dissolve anything with carbon in it?

  11. bobbo says:

#11–Ah Yea==I’ll give you .1% credit for that answer: “sludge and poor it down the drain.” /// I’m actually curious about a little more detail than what I implied in the question? But I will add sulphuric acid to my battery of resource liquids.

How much of “x” acid do you need to dissolve 150 pounds of flesh and what are the characteristics of the remaining goop? Can it be tested to see if “anything” was dissolved in it or does it just become more neutral? If not totally neutral, can the goop be reasonably tested to see if any humans ever took a bath?

ie—need to know stuff like that.

  12. Ah_Yea says:

So, bobbo, how many of those who have pissed you off over the years DO you plan to get rid of?

I wonder how much of a bulk discount on sulfuric acid you’ll get…

BTW, just being on the somewhat morbid side, I was wondering if Nitric acid was used instead, would the resulting sludge be a good fertilizer? After all, a good fertilizer has a large fixed nitrogen content along with the minerals, etc. for good plant growth.

It would seem to be the “Green” thing to do. Get rid of your enemies and help nature!

  13. Special Ed says:

Now I’m worried about Mexican food. Could this be the reason my asshole is burning?

  14. bobbo says:

#14–special ed==fresh chili peppers will burn no matter which end of the tube you try to eat it with.

  15. bobbo says:

#16–mota==thanks, right on target. Too bad they don’t report the total number of downloads.

I guess there really is a book on every subject you can think of.

  16. James Hill says:

You guys are just pissed a Mexican has a job other than gardener or housekeeper. You fucking racists.

  17. Poppa Boner says:

#18 – Married to a Herspanic, huh buttwipe?

  18. mobbomobbo says:

I love this story! I read it to my children every night before bed.
