Since I work in news, and do similar stories day in and day out, I can appreciate the courage it took for this reporter to do a stupid story in a stupid way. It is just what TV News lacks….the ability to make fun of how stupid it usually is…
Great stuff. Last week I had to do a TV story about quacking noises on tour buses. I challenged the reporter to not have any quack noises in the piece, since everybody already knows what they sound like, and I thought it would make the story original, since the story was about a company who did not want anyone else to make quack noises. Sort of a quackless story. Do you think the reporter could refrain from stupid quack noises in the story? Guess.

  7. Ah_Yea says:

And here I though this story was PETA’s answer to all the negative stories over the last few days.

PETA Press Release: “It’s GOOD to have Wild bears in your backyard! They don’t eat people or pets, and give free fertilizer!

We can live in peace with our Big Black Kittens!”

  8. John Paradox says:

Proof at last, bears scat in the woods!

    J/P=?

  9. pcsmith says:

As someone who has lived through a bear re- population in Northern Penna, the important facts to report are missing. The bear are expanding their territory due to increase increasing population.

Learn how to coexist with them and treat them as the omnivores they are.

The best thing about a local bear population is the fact that they eat deer.

  12. Hugh Ripper says:

Didn’t this already happen in the Sopranos?

  13. Mac Guy says:

#4 – Oh brother, this isn’t the main Fox News, this is a local Fox affiliate.

Give it a rest, will ya?

  14. BubbaRay says:

Just how did that reporter manage to do the entire story without breaking up laughing?

I’ll bet the news crew had a lot of fun doing the story.

  15. Don Quixote says:

It could only have been improved if Hannity had reported the bear was an Obama relative black bear.

  16. Personality says:

This news story has two thing wrong with it. Fox, and Cleveland. No wonder.

  17. FlatAffect says:

Of course Fox News got the story exactly backwards.

It’s the people trespassing in the bear’s back yard – not the other way ’round.

  18. Winston says:

Obviously a SLOW news day. Translation: There are plenty of very important and complex topics to report on but we only have 12 minutes and our viewers don’t want to have to think anyway.

  19. Richard says:

I’m they didn’t get Veronica Belmont to play the bear. It would have made the piece more bearable.

  20. Bigbadwolf says:

Simple case of Goldie Locks and the three bears out for a walk..simple really

  21. AdmFubar says:

eeeppp, yeah the bears are back here again..
had a male in the area several years ago, right in the next burb over from me..
and again this one wasnt too far from where i live…

the herd of deer i have hang out in the backyard every fall, and then the little one or two that show up in spring , cayotes,… more and more of the critters are coming back to their old habitat.

not sure i’m totally thrilled about having an occasional bear sighted here :O

hopefully they will stay in the moutain areas… of western pa..

and #16. you stick the second half of your comment up your @ss sideways..

  22. canuck says:

I loved how they used modern technology to show what the bear “probably would have looked like”.

Seriously… is there anyone that doesn’t know what one of these “mysterious animals” that no one seems to be able to catch on camera? Maybe they don’t really exist… maybe he’s hanging out with Bigfoot!

  23. leftbankhook says:

#13…Um, it doesn’t MATTER if it’s the local affiliate. This isn’t some tiny town: it’s CLEVELAND, which I think is a top 20 market. They have a big enough market to support football, basketball, and baseball teams…and are doing bush-league news.
