  1. Larry Bud says:

Seriously! WTF!!!! No Death Panels????? I want Grammy and Grampy DEAD!!! DEAD I SAY!!!!

  2. pukeing says:

He still aint gonna let us grow any medicinal plants such as marijuana, poppy, coca, peyote, psilocybin, etc. etc. etc.

Google Gotu Kola and read all of its benefits. Then drop your brain on a sheet of paper when you realize most doctors have no clue about this amazing herb. Untill the Doctors are not coopted into chemicals and extensive surgerys and are instead led in the direction of real medicine we are left with this nightmare known as the AMA, and FDA. Good night.

  3. Awake says:

The most enjoyable part of the speech was watching the Republican side of Congress slowly turn into a quivering mass of Jello, as point after point focused on the Republican pettiness, dogmatic obstructionism and complete lack of ideas on this critical issue.

  4. Glass Half Full says:

Someone pointed out to me that Obama’s poll rating have slipped from 65% (untouchable all powerful Messiah who will fix all things) to now 51% (politician). Wow…sucks for him. But buck up! The guy you replaced had a 25% approval rating. So as “bad” as you are now, you’re still twice the previous President.

You can ONLY be a failure if your approval ratings falls BELOW the last Republican (say 22%). THEN you should be ashamed! Until then even if you’ve slipped, it’s still an IMPROVEMENT over the last guy! 😉

  5. freddybobs68k says:

He did a reasonable job. Not sure I agree with all his conclusions.

If it can just move us away, if even just a little, from the stupid yet bizarrely effective scaremongering I’d consider it a resounding success.

  6. Dr Dodd says:

#5-glass half full-You can ONLY be a failure if your approval ratings falls BELOW the last Republican…

Congratulations, you have successfully placed whipped cream and a cherry on top of a dog turd.

    Well done!

  7. bobbo, don't get misdirected says:

Did you see it? /// Yes

What do you think? /// He knocked it out of the park.

Agree or disagree with his assessment of the problems? /// He didn’t go far enough, but he hit a lot of moles.

Agree or disagree with his plan? /// I’m for single payer==no reason to keep Private Insurers Alive after he recounts how bad they have been. Only reason to do that is – – – -Politics. I’m not a politician, HE is.

Which side are you on: free government run health care for all or survival of the wealthiest? /// Free (sic!)

Discuss! //// I can’t. I’m stuck in this here blog.

  8. brm says:

Disagreeing with Democrats = political gamesmanship. Disagreeing with Republicans = speaking truth to power.

    dur.

  9. LibertyLover says:

free government run health care for all

“[When it comes to government giveaways,] the word ‘free’ should be banned and replaced with the following phrase: ‘paid for with money stolen from your neighbors, who have worked to earn the money but are not permitted to keep what they’ve earned so that you can have a fill-in-the-blank.'” –author and “serial entrepreneur” Dan Kennedy

  10. philgar says:

As usual it was fine delivery. We should expect nothing less with the preparation that he should have put into it.

Did he really add anything? No. Are we all going to hold hands and pass a bipartisan bill? No.

  11. k.g. says:

R-SC Joe Wilson Apologizes for His Remarks During Speech (AP)

    Yeah!

  12. philgar says:

Independent of the morality of insurance company decisions I still fail to see how the following will not increase costs: reject people for pre-existing conditions, drop people who get sick, or limit out of pocket expenses. All these mandates to an insurance company will increase my cost as a purchaser of their product.

  13. jccalhoun says:

    kg’s a rickroller

  14. TooManyPuppies says:

huh? sorry, I was watching a recording of Steve Jobs making his return to Apple Keynotes.

  15. Dr Dodd says:

As usual, Obama’s speech crossed the boundary of truth into the realm of fantasy and illusion.

Siegfried and Roy along with David Copperfield no doubt feel they must kneel in awe at the deceptive powers of Karl Marx’s latest prodigy.

  16. YourMothersMilk says:

Uh. Now that this distraction has most of America droned out, can we now get to the promises this man stated in his campaign.

Like ending the fucking war already? This whole thing has been dragged out like a massive “Wag The Dog” script. Anything to keep peoples attention off of the war and the economy, and the FED.

Everyone, and I include everyone here in this blog. Left and Right alike. YOU have been duped over and over.

The Dems have the power to push through what they want. And indeed they will, despite all of the clammering and bickering. This is all a fog.

GET IT? Good… now lets move on. Oh wait. Guess not. Since he’s still hasn’t said anything. Guess we’ll be hearing about this bullshit all the way till XMAS.

    Guess it beats American Idol.

  17. jccalhoun says:

Joe Wilson just became the right wing’s excuse. When the healthcare bill passes they can say it was because the media was distracted by Joe Wilson’s sideshow and didn’t focus on the real issues…

  18. Dallas says:

Good speech by a great statesman.

The Republicans reached a new low point when the poor white trash senator from south carolina called the president a liar.

I was very saddened the pwt senator was not tasered and dragged out by his feet.

  19. Carcarius says:

Government-sponsored healthcare is unconstitutional. This above all else is reason not to move forward on government-sponsored healthcare. The government simply does not legally hold this power.

Also, we can’t afford it. Simple as that.

  20. bobbo, don't get misdirected says:

#11–LIEBERTARIAN LOSER==happy to let others suffer and die so he can be taxed less. A stalwart member of the LIEBERTARIAN vacuousness.

He can stand on his hind legs and his knuckles don’t drag the ground. Do we have all the details of your best thinking?

  21. Hugh Ripper says:

Gotta admit, the man is one slick salesman. Now all you need is for the government to work for you and not the banks and corporations. Good luck with that.

  22. TJ says:

    @Carcarius

OK, so, I suppose you consider Medicare unconstitutional. Public Schools? Highways.
Where does the constitution prohibit social programs, just curious.
    Have a nice day.

  23. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz says:

It seems most Con’s prefer Privately Run Death Panels.

I fucking hates stupid insurance companies. I hope all the people who run those thing die off terrible illness for profiting on people lively hood and their health.

I don’t care how good your insurance is, when you end up in hospital with their plan, you will have to pay. If you get $0 balance, a few month later they will dig something up so you will have to pay.

  24. Dr Dodd says:

#20-Dallas-The Republicans reached a new low point when the poor white trash senator from south carolina called the president a liar.

Sometimes you just gotta call a spade a spade.

  25. Jetfire says:

#24 TJ Highways are constitutional because when they were original build they were built to move troops. So it was a military project. They don’t even play that game anymore.

  26. Dallas says:

#26 Sure, but even your run of the mill Republican has the common courtesy of saying nigger and faggot at the dinner table right after saying grace.
It turns out the pwr senator has apologized for thinking it was a town hall meeting.
The point being there is a time and place standard for speaking your mind depending where you are in sewer hierarchy, no?

  27. Jetfire says:

Will Plan Lead to Forced Unionization of Health Workers?
    Check this out.

This will help cost go down. Really believe me ignore the man behind the curtain.

  28. Carcarius says:

#24 TJ – The Constitution doesn’t prohibit these things you mention, it just doesn’t provide authorization to the government to introduce or support them. The free market would do a much better job of handling the organization and regulation of these programs you mention.

Just as auctions work to determine the true value of a good or service, so would free market economics. The government should stay out of this business entirely.

  29. TruthBeKnown says:

    #29 Jetfire

Good link. Obviously written by a racist who dares to point out problems in BHO’s plan.

  30. Hugh Ripper says:

    #30 Carcarius

I don’t really care one way or another as I’m and Aussie and I like my govt subsidised health care, but is seems to me that an unregulated free market has got America into the dire financial situation it is now. The market is rigged and will never show the ‘true value of a good or service’, as the big market players are mostly greed driven criminals who excel primarily at cheating, lying and screwing the poor and middle class.

So what exactly has the ‘self-regulated market’ done for you recently?
