In 2007, then-U.S. ambassador to France Craig Stapleton conspired to retaliate against European countries for their anti-biotech policies. U.S. diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks reveal the Bush administration formulated battle plans to extract revenge against Europe for refusing to use genetically modified seeds.
In the leaked cable, Stapleton writes: “Europe is moving backwards not forwards on this issue with France playing a leading role, along with Austria, Italy and even the [European] Commission…Moving to retaliation will make clear that the current path has real costs to EU interests and could help strengthen European pro-biotech voice.”
Ambassador Stapleton goes on to write: “Country team Paris recommends that we calibrate a target retaliation list that causes some pain across the EU since this is a collective responsibility, but that also focuses in part on the worst culprits. The list should be measured rather than vicious and must be sustainable over the long term, since we should not expect an early victory,” he wrote.

Unless of course the U.S. ambassador is really in the pay of the EU. By proposing a plan where the US government intervenes in EU laws he will create a strong backlash against GM crops thus giving victory to our organic farming euro overlords.

Monsanto is a trans-national corporation, operating in most countries around the world.
Their home office is based in the United States, probably because they can so easily avoid paying any taxes in the United States.
They don’t need to be based in the United States. They could be based anywhere in the world and they would be gone in a heartbeat, if the United States ever stopped catering to their every whim.
Trans-national corporations don’t belong to ANY country and trans-national corporations don’t CARE about the United States.
They care about money, every quarter, pure and simple. All else is pure spin.
It’s simple enough and fair enough. Why can’t people ever see through the obvious propaganda?

Only companies registered “in” and “owned by” the countries where their head office is, where they are incorporated, or where they do the majority of their business, or pay taxes, or however it is variously defined. Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy. Have you travelled the world? Do you know the USA is hated worldwide? No. You’re just a troll respewing what you’ve heard on PBS and CNN.
I have travelled extensively and lived/worked in at least two countries on each continent.* I find very little antipathy for the USA. Hell, I was in Iran when Khomeini was in power. Seemed like everyone wanted to go the US. Probably Khomeini, too. The Chinese? They know that their prosperity is due, in great part, to the USA. They don’t hate us. They worry about us. Europe? They ARE America only with history and more bureaucracy. I could go on and on but it doesn’t matter. You’re going to think what you will. Thank god for the Discovery Channel or people like you would never see anything of the rest of the world.
*Three if you count Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
USA produces enough food to supply 30% of the worlds food.
USA has enough LAND to do this, then complains there isnt enough to grow FOOD STOCKS for foods.
EXPORT food prices are going UP(finally)
Food prices in the USA, in the last 15 years, have doubled/tripled..
Do you think, of 1/2 the exported foods that they could/can pay as much as those persons/nations of the USA/Canada/Europe??
With all the numbers I have read, and the USA being able to supply about 30% of the worlds food, it means that the USA makes over 7-10 times the FOOD it uses.. 10-12 times as much food is Exported.
AND in a bad harvest year(as is about to happen), even tho we have tons enough food for the USA and Export prices are going up, the prices HERE(at home) will/are going up.. WHY do our prices go up when its the EXPORT market that is being hit?
