Huh. Who could have guessed this? Other than intelligent people, of course.
Are racists dumb? Do conservatives tend to be less intelligent than liberals? A provocative new study from Brock University in Ontario suggests the answer to both questions may be a qualified yes. The study, published in Psychological Science, showed that people who score low on I.Q. tests in childhood are more likely to develop prejudiced beliefs and socially conservative politics in adulthood.
[…]
“Ideologies get rid of the messiness and impose a simpler solution. So, it may not be surprising that people with less cognitive capacity will be attracted to simplifying ideologies.”But Nosek said less intelligent types might be attracted to liberal “simplifying ideologies” as well as conservative ones.
For some reason, I think there may be a few who disagree with the findings.

Rather than writing our political opponents off as terminally unenlightened then, maybe we should be thinking about how to more effectively teach people from a young age to hold all claims up to critical scrutiny, including — no, especially those related to the beliefs they hold most dear. Whatever our political orientation, in fact, I think many of us could benefit from such an exercise.
Most people are too busy stroking themselves to be critical of themselves.
Of course, the one exception is myself.
This needs no further study but rather an acceptance of fact.
The study also points to a high propensity for sheepleness that begins by never, ever disagreeing with mommy or daddy.
This in turn impedes the opportunity to break the bigot cycle.
I disagreed with ‘mommy’ so much I ended up in jail after getting kicked out of school. The thing is that, I disagreed with her so much, I now know, because she is a liberal quack. A school teacher her whole life, she was unable to find a place for the values her parents taught inside a system that would ostracize you if you disagreed with the progressive ideals of the NEA and turn you out on your head. She bowed to pressure to keep her job, the only one she was trained for, and eventually believed the lies which set me up for failure. I now have a wonderful wife, four kids, a home, a job, and I know which way is up. I have a faith in Jesus Christ, and disavow all acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle. I do not associate the perverted notion of humanity that the homosexual agenda pushes with the civil rights movement, because fighting racism is humane, moral and ethical, whereas the homosexual agenda is inhumane, immoral, unethical. One is the superficial hate of humans with different color skin, the other is promoting the degradation and cessation of the human race. I know this now, all because I disagreed with mommy.
Thanks for sharing your story.
Convicted criminals as yourself finding a new religion and blaming the devil (in your case your mother) is not at all uncommon. I for one, have always said criminals SHOULD adopt a religion than to be a further burden on society. Your story ends much better than it started. Fortuneately, my family and I have always obeyed the law and are a close family unit.
That being said, my father has always had a hatred for blacks and continues to do so. He wasnt’t too keen on gays either nor communists. He did like Japanese because they were ‘smart’ and he loved Toyotas. I was able to disagree with him early on re blacks but long story short, he still hates blacks but he’s in his 80’s and well, …he’s in his 80’s. Oddly, he (and mom) just love my long time husband…but we don’t talk about that because, well, he’s in his 80’s and who cares? Right?
As a matter of fact I didn’t ‘find’ religion until after I had quit my ‘life of crime’, thank you very much for reading into it something not stated.
Also, please don’t call my mother the devil, that title is reserved only for the great deceiver and evil one, Satan. Thank you very much.
Got it.
What sort of restitution back to society or to your victims did you settle on for committing your crimes?
I committed what they call a victimless crime. One where the only one I was hurting was myself i.e. drugs. So have I paid myself back, or made restitution to myself? No. You gonna chide me for not affording myself the self-respect and equality that I deserve or maybe sue me for me, because I owe myself something?
Hey, Dallas!
Be careful on the religion thing. Your messiah believes in it.

“I have fallen on my knees with great regularity since that moment – asking God for guidance not just in my personal life and my Christian walk, but in the life of this nation and in the values that hold us together and keep us strong,” he said.
B.O. 2/2/12
Boy, he really wants to get re-elected!
Hey, LL! Let me be clear – I have no problem with any president being religious!
I’m encouraging Obama to embrace Jesus and several other dieties publicly. Also, deep throat some corn dogs and drink plenty of Cafe Cubano !
Dallas, shiiiiiiiitttttttt!
‘Anti-gay’ sentiments have nothing to do with racism, in spite of what some who would attempt to ride the coat tails of the civil rights movement into the realm of validity.
racism, sexism, homophobia…while not EXACTLY the same….are formed from the same stupidity
Look up racism in any thesaurus and bigotry comes up as a synonym
Racism comes from the ignorance that a persons skin color practically makes them a different species of human, was invented for monetary reasons, and has been proven false.
Sexism comes from the ignorance that women can’t do some things as well or better than a man. Comes from needing a caretaker of children, the mother of said children being the ideal candidate, though not the only one, as we well know now.
Homophobia, a misnomer, as most that disagree with the promotion of the homosexual lifestyle are not afraid of homosexuals, but rather are disapproving of it, because we know that it will lead to the decline of humanity as it promotes a lifestyle incompatible with furtherance of humanity. So what if the gays can adopt if their are no children being made to adopt. How much love is there to be found if we turn into a society where all the babies are made in labs?
Aww, isnt that cute, you think you found a rationale for your hatred and bigotry.
Bigots always think they have a good reason.
IF homosexuality is a good thing, should we not promote it for everybody then? IF we did, what would be the result? No more children except out of labs. And hey, they think they can even take two eggs and make a baby without sperm now to make a lesbians feel good about their choice. Wow, what will they need to fabricate next to make sure we don’t anti-procreate ourselves out of existence?
Because everyone always has to be the same, and that sameness has to be yours.
What a defender of freedom you are.
There are plenty of childless hetero couples. Are you going to force them to procreate?
I bet Tom would put himself at the head of the line at the “Mandatory Procreation Camps”
Its for the good of humanity you know.
By the way, you did not find a rationale in support of your ideology. You did not refute what I said, but rather called me names. What else do you have to argue with besides to compare us to animals, or your feelings, or somebody you know that you are fond of, etc.?
I’m sorry, I wasn’t aware I had to argue in favor or treating all people with dignity and respect.
I also refuted your argument by way of logical extension: if homosexuality is a threat to procreation, then so are all people who do not procreate, even hetero people. Since you are not arguing to “save humanity” from non breeding heteros, your recrimination of homosexuality must have another source.
You couch bigotry in what appears to be a practical argument, but it doesn’t hold up.
Ahh the old “You are intolerant of my bigotry” chestnut. You are welcome to your prejudice. Just as I am welcome to oppose you making it public policy.
An imaginary apocalyptic reproductive scenario is a stretch. It exposes the weakness of your position that you even had to go there.
Maybe we should ban perishable foods, just in case we lose the ability to refrigerate? For everyones safety, of course.
All perishable foods don’t need the lab to procreate, and therefore we can get more.
Now whose evading questions? By your silence, do you support elimination of perishable food, just in case?
Do you support the elimination of sterile individuals? In your nightmare scenario, they would also be “detrimental”.
Perhaps you would have them stoned?
Insults instead of answers. How revealing.
Now you’re putting words in my mouth.
You cant argue the point, so are changing the subject.

Thanks again Merriam Webster.
I was going to dispute your use of the word subhuman as extreme, but sure we’ll go with that.
Tom homosexuality has been part on the human condition since the dawn of man. Some cultures have embrace, it some treated it with indifference and some hate, disgust and contempt. “a lifestyle incompatible with furtherance of humanity” Humanity and thrived with the constant presence of gays. Part of being a US citizen respecting the rights of others even those you disagree with thats what makes us the land of the free.
Please tell me how are homosexuals infringing on your rights?
If a gay couple wants to rase adopt and child why do you care?
Sure I don’t like the idea of Westboro Baptist Church members raising any kids but if they want to adopt and child its none of my business what makes this issue your business?
Please don’t think I’m being glib here.
What business is it of yours that I make it my business? By your own logic, you should not be butting in here. I’m not saying you can’t, by all means, continue with your high-browed defense of all things that are things that are not against things, as far as you can tell.
As a public service
There’s Always a Chance I could convince someone they are acting like a bigot when in their heart they don’t want to be that way.
A world with one less bigot is a better world.
You on the other hand will not convince anyone to stop being gay or but you might learn how to become a better person and stop trying to deny a group of Americans equal opportunity adopt children, probably lots of other stuff too but Il’ll stick with what you have in this thread.
You’re Welcome Tom
Bullshit smart people feel the same, they just have enough sense to keep their mouth shut.
If you are in college and are a conservative, you have no heart. If you are an adult and a liberal, you have no brain.
Republicans thought Sarah Palin was an ideal vicepresidential candidate. That is an enough sign of retardation.
Not at all. If Jesus, Mary, God, Vishnu, Television, and the other voices in your head tell you to like a candidate, you better like that candidate!
and Democrats voted for Obama: a demonstrable sign of near brain death and suicidal self-hatred.
Hey, Unc? They studied … Canadians. All bets are off.
Seriously, the most prejudiced and racist group I know of (and noted for their low test scores) are inner city, black liberals, Come to think of it, they like gospel music, too. And you ever seen what happens to a black kid who comes out of the closet? Ain’t pretty. Seems I read somewhere there’s a strong link between low IQ and criminal activity. Let’s see: is the crime rate higher in Detroit or Selma?
If anything, this study just foes to prove what we’ve said many times on this blog: You can find a study to prove any damned thing you want.
What it proves is,you can’t fix stupid. And their is plenty to go around on both sides!
its easy to control people when you can teach them to BLAME something/someone ELSE for their problems.
Iv shown some younger friends, that 90% of their problems START with themselves.
THEN there are those agencies/people that LOVE to put road blocks in your way.
Life is an obstacle course.
NOT being intelligent includes the inability to understand, communicate, reason, learn, retain, plan, and problem solve.
Sounds like the Government.
I wonder how well low IQ correlates with attitudes of religious fundamentalism.

Four in 10 Americans, slightly fewer today than in years past, believe God created humans in their present form about 10,000 years ago
Archaeologists have discovered civilizations that have been dated to 12,000 to 14,000 years ago. Presumably humans would have existed prior to the development of civilizations.
Thirty-eight percent believe God guided a process by which humans developed over millions of years from less advanced life forms
If God guided the process of human development, then why do we have wars, famine, and uncontrolled population growth?
while 16%, up slightly from years past, believe humans developed over millions of years, without God’s involvement.”
I guess I am a member of a minority. I should be entitled to some kind of government assistance.
It was the Democratic Party that argued in court that their voters were too dumb to fill out a ballot in 2000.
The final result in Florida was slim enough to require a mandatory recount (by machine) under state law; Bush’s lead had dwindled to about 300 votes by the time it was completed later that week. A count of overseas military ballots later boosted his margin to about 900 votes. It is widely believed that some overseas absentee ballots were counted despite their illegality: some arrived after the deadline, were not postmarked, or were not signed.
Most of the post-electoral controversy revolved around Gore’s request for hand recounts in four counties (Broward, Miami Dade, Palm Beach, and Volusia), as provided under Florida state law. Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris announced she would reject any revised totals from those counties if they were not turned in by November 14, the statutory deadline for amended returns. The Florida Supreme Court extended the deadline to November 26, a decision later vacated by the U.S. Supreme Court. Miami-Dade eventually halted its recount and resubmitted its original total to the state canvassing board, while Palm Beach County failed to meet the extended deadline. On November 26, the state canvassing board certified Bush the winner of Florida’s electors by 537 votes. Gore formally contested the certified results, but a state court decision overruling Gore was reversed by the Florida Supreme Court, which ordered a recount of over 70,000 ballots previously rejected by machine counters.
The U.S. Supreme Court quickly halted the order.
On December 12, the Supreme Court ruled in a 7–2 vote that the Florida Supreme Court’s ruling requiring a statewide recount of ballots was unconstitutional, and in a 5–4 vote that the Florida recounts could not be completed before a December 12 “safe harbor” deadline, and should therefore cease and the previously certified total should hold.
The Supreme Court’s decision was an unsigned or “Per Curiam” ruling; the ruling was “limited to the present circumstances” and could not be cited as precedent
Though Gore came in second in the electoral vote, he received 543,895 more popular votes than Bush.
Dubya Bush was the first U.S. President elected by the Supreme Court.
Gore won the election by popular vote, but he was a good sport and went along with the program.
(Not that anything would have been different with Gore as President.)
(Not that anything would have been different with Gore as President.)
Indeed. A point sheeple voters do not grasp.
Actually this was stated (don’t know by whom) when the country was founded. This is why we deal with delegates and the electoral collage. The popular vote is ignored because of this assumption that the population is largely stupid and ignorant. This is how Bush got into office for his 1st term.
Just like all liberals, these folks are insecure and need to make themselves feel better by painting themselves as smarter thhan everyone else.
I feel secure in the knowledge that the more we learn, the more we are aware of what we do not know.
Yeah like i said this is really a backwards stereotype, only missing the Christian religious bit. However also listed is racism (or any form of bigotry like anti-gay) which in it self is based on ignorance, and therefore leads towards low IQs and being stupid. Not to confuse ignorance and stupidity being the same.
I’ve not read the comments yet, but could religion be included to this “Low IQ / dumb list” too? Only thing missing from this stereotype is the religious zelots.
I can’t tell, is the picture TaxedEnough or Pedro?
Which religious zealots do you mean? There are several thousand religions.
The Book of Knowledge is a handy reference.
Oops. This comment was directed @ FRAGaLOT.
This new format sucks.
Seems pretty obvious to me. The KKK and the Neo Nazi party are not filled with geniuses.
You can toss in Democrats and Republicans too.
Then how do they explain the Japanese, who by and large think of white and blacks as untouchables not to be intermingled with their pure race, but nobody calls them on their racism, and of whom we have said how smart they are?
The Japanese aren’t too fond of the Chinese either.
White, black, red, while and even yellow, their shit list just keeps on getting longer.
But they will try to sell you their products…
Geeeezzzzzz. Talk about biased!
Religion, racism, homophobia and other such beliefs along with making people afraid are just tools used to manipulate the weak minded. When somebody tries to make you afraid by claiming the gays, blacks, liberals, conservatives or any other group are plotting to take something away from you. They most likely have a hidden agenda and know how to manipulate the sheeple. Most people are lazy about the truth and just look for someone to confirm their fears, even when the facts or evidence says otherwise.
I’d really like to know the political/socioeconomic leanings of all of the folks who conducted the study. That would be very telling. You can skew “statistics” any way you like, just by altering your sample selection. And after VERY briefly skimming their paper, I already see several problems with their sample selection.
Like what?
Wow, it’s amazing how an article about peoples interpretation of simplistic ideas and how that relates to IQ could go in so many tangents.
I believe the main point is that if people on the left could promote their ideas and plans in a simplistic manner, then the low IQers would be equally inclined to follow them as they now follow the right.
George Bush is a perfect example: incredibly simplistic thinking was so appealing to the simplistic.
“I believe the main point is that if people on the left could promote their ideas and plans in a simplistic manner, then the low IQers would be equally inclined to follow them as they now follow the right.” /// I must not have wakened fully up yet as that strikes me as very telling. I would think “if true” it would have been done already?==so something else might be in play, along the lines that Republicans really have simple ideas that therefore can be expressed simplistically but the Dumbo’s “in fact” have more complicated ideas which again consistently can’t be expressed so simplistically?
I stumble though when I try to run Dumbo ideas thru the laugh track. They ALL can be simplistically stated====but the DON’T APPEAL to the Puke base. So–logically that is “proof” or at least an indication that something else really is going on.
Take a simple issue: right to life/free choice. Opposites each simply stated. Why does one simple statement win out over the other simple statement? Being simple doesn’t tell us.
No, something deeper going on==at least, sometimes but I fear: most often. Maybe just what the thread caption says? Once you take the bias and slant and desired results out of the picture, why do people vote differently? Its VALUES isn’t it? Don’t values play a role in some manner?
Rather obvious. Why do poor people vote to cut their own benefits so the rich can escape inheritance taxes?
Heh, heh. Yes, something else going on. Your own issues/motivations of course will vary.
Well you are correct about it not being that simple. If I recall correctly Frank Luntz the person that works for the republicans to develop messaging for them has stated that simplicity is only part of the equation for a successful method of getting people to follow. The 2nd most important part of his method is to use words or phrases that convey a positive emotion even if it’s not really true.
Guys, gals and Pedro. The conversation thread has drifted away from the facts derived from this scientific, emperical study.
Let’s discuss the neccesary and called for harsh measures needed to dispose of these stupid people. Must be swift but compassionate.
Orchidcup, was there a point to your post, other than you are too dumb to read and understand other people’s posts?
There was more than one lawsuit filed, with complaints about different types of voting, and asking for different types of remedies. For example, one lawsuit wanted a judge to do a statistical fix and declare Gore the winner. One of the suits filed was that Democrats are disproportionately more likely to be unable to handle the voting process, and I’m not talking about the Palm Beach butterfly ballot.
I don’t remember the exact case of what they thought their voters were too dumb to handle. It may have been that they circled Gore’s name, then when they saw the spot for write-in they wrote in Gore.
Tom–seems like a new/fresh voice to this forum. Old ideas presented with a slight twist. I read this and thought it should be parsed, quickly skimmed the rest of the thread. Hope I’m not too redundant:
Racism comes from the ignorance that a persons skin color practically makes them a different species of human, was invented for monetary reasons, and has been proven false. /// Now, who can disagree with this maximum liberal idea/reality? Well done. Gives credence and import to anything else you might say—or was it a fluke? Always good though to note how our Founding Fathers advocated Freedom while owning slaves. How did THAT happen? Tom tells us. What lies do we tell ourselves to make our philosophies consistent? How many lies do we tell?
Sexism comes from the ignorance that women can’t do some things as well or better than a man. /// Telling emPHA sis there. I assume on closer questioning you would immediately recognize women do many things better than men? I guess those would come up in part 2?
Comes from needing a caretaker of children, /// “ok” tentatively whispered
the mother of said children being the ideal candidate, /// Not in the age of bottled milk
though not the only one, as we well know now. /// Thats true. Sadly though, its those “other types of males” who fill that role more often than not. Men and women are not the same AS A GROUP STATISTIC when measured grossly on certain variables. There is a very telling difference between any person who’s unrecognized reference is the group statistic verses the individual measure. Good to keep both in mind, but to discount the first for almost all conversations/thinking. Let individuals establish their own performance without the burden of knocking any straw”men” out of the way.
Homophobia, a misnomer, as most that disagree with the promotion of the homosexual lifestyle are not afraid of homosexuals, but rather are disapproving of it, because we know that it will lead to the decline of humanity as it promotes a lifestyle incompatible with furtherance of humanity. /// Hah, hah. Says who? How? Can you name and connect those dots for us? Its been over 10 years now that the locus of genes tending to associate with homosexuality also associate with increased fecundity of females. Sorry to be so wishy washy in that statement but human behavior is that complex. We should all live long enough to see this and many other “behaviors” decoded in the genes. Science marches on.
But what makes you think homophobia doesn’t include the disapproval of other peoples behavior as opposed to their status? Why do you think that saves and excepts you? Why would such a distinction remove the taint? Call it something else? Does being unnecessarily and injuriously judgmental make you feel better?
So what if the gays can adopt if their are no children being made to adopt. /// Huh?
How much love is there to be found if we turn into a society where all the babies are made in labs? /// More?
Ha, ha. It is all definitional. How we take a stand on one issue and reveal ourselves. Its always strikes me as sad: no body gives a shit what anyone else “thinks”—only what they do. It only follows that very odious things are done with the best of intentions/rationales/assumptions.
Tell me who you hate, and I will tell you who you are.
Yea, verily.
Many, many words……………………….. The title you ascribe to yourself of ‘junior’ Sigmund Freud is accurate. I prefer Carl Jung, as most of Freud has been subjugated to his theories.
You think so? I think “most” of psychology has moved on to 50 different schools of analysis all more advanced than the early pioneers. Science is like that. Not necessarily over ruling the prior work, just refining it.
Freud = Sex
Jung = Cultural “Inheritance”
Skinner = Operant Conditioning
and on and on. Fact is, they are all still valid depending on what ails you/floats your boat and lots of people don’t have “psychoanalytical” ailments at all but still have behavioral or social suboptimal coping mechanisms.
As in so much of what is wrong with man, knowing whats wrong to begin with certainly helps in the cure. Or, as implied: simply maximizing one’s advantages.
Words. Yes, many words. Do you know we think with words? Some say more intelligent people have more words than do less intelligent people. Some say, that is a result that can be manipulated by any group with the interest to do so. I enjoy making up words. What does THAT say? Better or worse than making up the notion that I have a consistent and moral set of beliefs by which to criticize and denigrate other people that I only coincidentally disagree with?
What could the truth possibly be?
Probably some other question?
Ha, ha. Same as it ever was.
But I got thrown off by your very first red herring! Second red herring?==No. Third red herring?==back on track.
Where’s the beef?
A highly trained dog, does not necessarily imply a highly intelligent dog. You have obviously been well trained. I do grovel at your great feet for your great mercy that I have not been highly trained as you have.
Tom–you’ll get trained yet, even if only by operant conditioning because I don’t think cognitive dissonance plays a role in forming your habit patterns.
Once again, lets parse. Why? Because I enjoy putting pearls before swine. The pearls are still there, not admired otherwise.
But as an aperitif, let me say you made a good point regarding the leaving the conformity of one group only to conform to to another group? Its almost like you don’t think of humanity being established outside of a group? Now, as in so many things, that could very well be true of some people, but not for others and how directly you can accept the paradox that all people are the same yet different at the same time forms this ingroup/outgroup conformity meme of yours. Just a thought.
A highly trained dog, does not necessarily imply a highly intelligent dog. /// Seriously–you’re going to insert the quibble word “necessarily”? Why do you do that? The impression of analysis/thinking with no actuality of either going on at all. “Fact is” the ability/speed of being trained is the VERY DEFINITION of intelligence. What else do you think it is? Ha, ha. Yes…….of course—its definitional. Ever notice that NO DEFINITION includes the word/idea of “necessarily”? Why do you “think” that is?
You have obviously been well trained. /// Thank you.
I do grovel at your great feet for your great mercy that I have not been highly trained as you have. /// I don’t have anything to do with your state of training. Why would you project this onto me?
You don’t make any sense at all.
HEY!!! Take it for what its worth. Just an opposing idea to sharpen your own against.
THE POINT of the article, misread by most but not all, is not WHAT you think, but rather HOW you think about what you think. Are you flexible, tolerant of ambiguity or not?
IF you think the poor need less money to be productive and the rich need more money to be productive then you will be marked down as a CONSERVATIVE===but you will be smart or dumb based on how flexible you are when answering the question: “Just how rich are you then?”
Ha, ha. Silly Hoomans. Thinking intelligence doesn’t mean anything and using what they have to argue about it.
Same as it ever was.
Thank you for bringing up the speed/ability variable. You make the assumption that well trained = intelligence, but by your own wording, speed/ ability would come into play here as well. Are you well trained, yes. But you could have taken decades to get this way, so the question of intelligence automatically being associated with training does not stick.
Geez Tommy–I’m trying to leave this thread but how can I when you trumpet your ignorance and confusion as if it were a trump card?
Speed and ability to learn/be trained is different than the fact of having learned/been trained. You use the concepts without distinction when its the distinction that makes the difference.
So, nice little microcosm we have demonstrated here. I have learned the distinction and apply it/demonstrate its us correctly. You have not. But you are almost there. At least you sense/know there is a difference. The application will come with time.
Just keep rereading until you see your error. Post back if you want it regurgitated in smaller bits.
“ seek greater social instability and find ways around and break laws for their own benefit. seek to join with member of outgroups and shun their own ingroups leading to a breakdown of social norms and an increase in social tension.”
I like that. Non-conformity against group leads to conformity outside of the aforementioned group. Fun fun.
Tom agreeing with off track? Ha, ha. Whatever.
Lets see: ““ seek greater social instability and find ways around and break laws for their own benefit. seek to join with member of outgroups and shun their own ingroups leading to a breakdown of social norms and an increase in social tension.” /// Hmmmm. Many, many words……can they be parsed?
“ seek greater social instability /// who does THAT? Too grandiose. People operate on a smaller more personal level. “Social” is a summing up made by (hack) academics. Anyone arguing social anything is telegraphs they are immediately out of their depth.
and find ways around and break laws /// they use diametrically opposed approaches that encompass every possible option? Ha, ha. Most people aren’t so grand.
for their own benefit. /// Short term/long term? A concept that needs defining. How do we seek/find/understand “our own benefit” or do you simply mean not “your” benefit as you may understand that?
seek to join with member of outgroups /// if you join an outgroup, don’t they become your in group?
and shun their own ingroups /// meaning they are now your out group?
leading to a breakdown of social norms /// no, the norm remains the same==some conforming and some not all subject to various and variable measurements.
and an increase in social tension.” /// How do you feel/measure this “social tension?” What is it? I have felt/experienced personal tension/dislikes/challenges. Never made it more than that.
Hmmmm. Seems traaxxs has made another of his indecipherable pronouncements. But BRAVO: you are the first person I recall ever agreeing with him. Have you moved to his tension creating out group or what?
Ha, ha. Rats. Another 24 hours before wifey unlocks the fridge and I can get to my 6 pack. The days pass so slowly.
Low IQ or just a lack of education?
Those who still seriously debate this item probably have one of both (you take your pick please).
I know that I am poorly educated, thanks for pointing that out you intolerant meanie head!
Let’s face it.Our Republic is slowly being changed into a Corporate Fascist state and this study and string of comments proves it will succeed.Distract people and get them arguing while you carry out what you really want in the shadows. It happens so much it’s almost laughable. The latest is SOPA and PIPA,get people distracted and fighting about these while the whole time they in secret push through a trade agreement ACTA around the world that is even worse that nobody can even vote on.All you need is some slick tv commercials to distract people and convince them that something that is bad is actually good. You can’t fix stupid and the people running things rely on that.
Just ask yourself first, who paid for this BS research? It’s probably lots of your taxdollars at work here again. Those scientists ain’t cheap. Hey, they finally could have fixed the road also with that!
Perhaps as my final pearl, allow me to recount that IQ is a highly defined “type” of intelligence, only one of many types we all need to function personally and in society. Some are closely related to others, some almost the opposite of others.
I marvel at wifey sometimes. IQ and even “Social IQ” well above mine. Same with Memory–nearly photographic. But can’t problem solve or read a map to save her life. Thats why I often take her out to the woods and leave her with only a map and 15 minutes of battery life. If the cops ever catch on, I can point out she had a map and flashlight. She does keep finding her way back though and we laugh about how often we miscommunicate. Ha, ha.
Communication: another skill set, intelligence type. Yes, very complicated we hoomans can be.
Where’s the pearl? Hmmmm. Here: you don’t have to be “smart” to have a very good life. You don’t need to be the smartest either==nor have any misgivings or jealousies when being match against others. For most activities in life, most hoomans are “smart enough.” After that baseline of simply being hooman is reached, it really is the other skills/abilities that come into play. Non genetic information carriers are at play too. Who of us has been trained to accept ourselves and figure out how to be happy with what we have?
What I’ve noticed about happy successful people is they most basically leave other people alone. Life is hard to appreciate if you spend too much time concerned with what other people may be thinking about when what they are thinking about is what other people may be thinking about.
Know what I mean? ((“self” actualized much?”))
Yea, verily.
Oh hell, it’s frikin Huffington Post, no wonder. Just disregard their typical drivel folks….
