I wonder what those who see him and Bush as war criminals think of this.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney had a heart transplant Saturday and is recovering at a Virginia hospital, his office said. An aide to Cheney disclosed that the 71-year-old, who has had a long history of cardiovascular trouble including numerous heart attacks, had been waiting for a transplant for more than 20 months.
[…]
More than 3,100 Americans currently are on the national waiting list for a heart transplant. Just over 2,300 heart transplants were performed last year, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing. And 330 people died while waiting. According to UNOS, 332 people over age 65 received a heart transplant last year. The majority of transplants occur in 50- to 64-year-olds.
[…]
The odds of survival are good. More than 70 percent of heart transplant recipients live at least five years, although survival is a bit lower for people over age 65.

The former vice president suffered a heart attack in 2010, his fifth since the age of 37.

  1. jbenson2 says:

I wonder if he would have been eligible for the transplant if Obamacare was in place. Probably not.

  2. President Amabo (& my wife Chewbacca) (threaded comment systems are for retards) says:

    Uncle Dave, STFU.

What happened under the GW/Cheney administration is much milder and more humane than what has been happening under the Brother Barry/Exeter administration. Not to mention Barry’s wife, Chewbacca.

  3. Axl says:

Just let the man fade into the scrap heap of shame…. no more waste of time and energy on this evil man! Please!

  4. ECA says:

“cardiovascular trouble including numerous heart attacks, ”

“The former vice president suffered a heart attack in 2010, his fifth since the age of 37.”

    5?? in 33 years?? NUMEROUS??

  5. kmfix says:

Just waiting for him to be buried so I have a new place to pee.

    • McCullough says:

      LOL!

    • msbpodcast says:

I think that we should start calling outdoor toilets Cheneys.

The term for them in Europe is Vespasiennes who was the Roman emperor Titus Flavius Vespasians who coined, literally, the expression “Money has no odor” ( “Pecunia non odor” ) and started pay toilets.

That would show Cheney exactly what we think of him whenever our bladders and/or colons are full.

  6. Glenn E. says:

Just wonder if the American taxpayer pick up the tab for this operation? Never mind whether or not the health care plan that Obama signed off on, had any effect. Congressmen, Senators, and current and former heads state don’t rely on such plans, that are watered down for the rest of us 99 percent.

I also wonder if this was an American donor hearts? Or one of those not-so-voluntary Chinese donor hearts, harvested from political prisoners? Just sort of thing that’s more Cheney’s style. Anyway. not that he’s got a new heart. Let’s see if it stands up to a bit of Water Boarding. Another Cheney approved technique.

    • msbpodcast says:

He’s on the government health[don’t]care plan.

He was an elected officious so we’re going to be stuck with his health[don’t]care tab, until we cough up the money for his funeral.

How long have we been shelling out for JFK’s funeral flame?

Cheney’s will have to be a lot hotter, assuming where he’s gone.

  7. Its amazing the hard time they gave poor Dick
Yet imagine how hard it is on the new heart living in his body
You sure don’t hear a lot about Mr. Cheney in the news lately other than he published a book a while ago

  8. McCullough says:

I wonder if this heart is as black as his last heart. Who knows, maybe he got the heart of a Liberal, and he will come out of the hospital a changed man? Someone with an actual conscience?

    Hahahahahahah, I keed, I keed.

  9. satman says:

Actually I heard that he personally requested and received Trayvon Martin’s heart. He had his liver, fava beans and a nice glass of chianti as a post op meal.

  10. satman says:

    Too soon?

  11. NewformatSux says:

They are trying to imply in the article that he shouldn’t have gotten the transplant, was given special privilege. Yet they say a waiting list of 3100 people with 2300 transplants performed per year. That suggests a latency of 1 year + 4 months. Cheney waited 1 year + 8 months. Article fail.

  12. Glenn E. says:

This bit of news, not long after we just heard that he canceled “an April speaking engagement in Toronto, fearing for his safety”. His spokesperson did say it was open heart surgery recovery safety, he feared for. It seems to me now, that when word that the heart became available. Cheney simply took time off for it, plus needed recovery time. So it had nothing to do with Toronto itself being too dangerous. Just not a wise thing to do, traveling with a newly installed heart. But for some reason, we couldn’t be told about the heart, until it was safely put in. Did Cheney fear terrorists would storm the hospital, or shut down the power grid? Or was he afraid people who waited longer than he did, might mount a protest? For all we know, they backdated his waiting time, to appear more legit.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Cheney only fears the power of prayer.

  13. Sombody says:

“I wonder what those who see him and Bush as war criminals think of this.”

They probably feel the same as the people who think he facilitated 9-11.

It’s horrible to think that some poor innocent bastard got pushed down the list for this Sith lord.

    • msbpodcast says:

Pushed down the list, by the shoulders, a towel wrapped around his head and held under a bucket until he confessed. (It doesn’t matter to what. Just the he confessed. Kidnapping the Lindberg baby, doesn’t matter.)

  14. MartinJJ says:

Directly responsible for the death of millions people on this planet and he gets a new heart? Lock him up for the remaining time he’s got left. This corrupt NeoCon is nothing less then a major war criminal.

  15. President Amabo (& my wife Chewbacca) (threaded comment systems are for retards) says:

Amazing. We’re watching a guy purposefully dismantle the very future of the human race and a lot of you are still acting like the Bush years were bad.

    • msbpodcast says:

Refute even one of the documents referenced in another post in response to you’re insane revisionist view of history and I’ll eat my shorts.

Until then STFU you lying sack of shit.

I KNOW PEOPLE WHO DIED DURING THOSE ALLEGED HALCYON YEARS FOR NO GOOD REASON OTHER THAN THE AGGRANDIZEMENT OF BUSH/CHENEY AND THE NEOCON AGENDA.

    • GregAllen says:

Good article. We Americans have such short memories.

I would add another reason to loath him: Cheney’s Energy Task Force which allowed Enron to secretly write US energy policy which screwed taxpayers and maximized their own profits.

      • Hmeyers2 says:

So … Enron maximized their own profits?

They went out of business in … 2002? 2003?

Was that a good “maximized their own profits”?

I bet a lot of “fat cat” Republicans lost their shirt in the Enron collapse.

I hate birthers, truthers and the “Bush nuts” … why the frootpies do you people not even think about the implications of your own hare-brained assertions.

        Really.

        • Mextli: ABO says:

Because like all good little moon bats they are Manchurian candidates and certain word triggers set their hate off.

  16. RickM says:

John … please explain why you think that a heart transplant makes him not a war criminal.

A war criminal is a criminal. It’s just too bad that they couldn’t have found a more worthy person to put that heart in.

  17. GregAllen says:

He’s only 71? He’s one of those guys who has seemed old for decades.

  18. Les affaires de coeur says:

So Cheney’s demonstrably got a heart. There’s always a first time for everything.

  19. Cursor_ says:

Did the tax payers pay for it?

If so where are the libertarians against it?

    Cursor_

  20. dusanmal says:

    Tin Man is so yester-year…

Anonymous donates heart to Dick Cheney is where the story is.

  21. Holdfast says:

The fact that he is a criminal responsible for the death of tens (hundreds?) of thousands should not exclude him from humane treatment.

In the same way, the fact that he is rich and has rich and powerful friends should not prevent him from going on trial. I have less faith in this though.

  22. NewfornatSux says:

Saw on The Firm a guy on death row who wanted to give his heart to the daughter of the guy he killed.

Perhaps this heart came from a liberal who told lies about Cheney and making up WMD stories and Joe Wilson Valerie Plame and doing it all to make profits for Halliburton.

  23. JimD, Boston, MA says:

I bet Prick Cheney has been on “NATIONAL HEALTH CARE” since he was in the Ford Administration, or earlier as a Congressman from Wyoming !!! But no, the Repukes don’t want and won’t allow NATIONAL HEALTH CARE for the rest of us !!!

  24. Rabble Rouser says:

They may have found a heart for Dick, but they’re still looking for a brain for Bush.

    • NewfornatSux says:

You missed the memo. Bush is now being transitioned to smart, so that they can attack the newest Republicans as dumb. Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney or perhaps Romney evil and his vice president is dumb.
