I used to enjoy fireworks, hell as a teenager I was the neighborhood dealer. I’m patriotic and love my country, it’s just that I am getting cranky and the 4th sounds a lot like war. I enjoy peace. Get off my lawn.

My own pleasure was the result of adrenaline kicking in as I thought I was being shot at….. in my airplane at low altitude. But I was safe as I was only in a drone. I love technology.

Yeah, I take somethings to seriously, mind won’t turn off, so I get cranky. Like you said, enjoy, the day after my comment I heard some aerial mortars popping off. I went to the large kitchen window and called the wife in to watch.
The shells of today are amazing. Different colors and shapes. Enjoyable. No finale, or artillery shell fireworks.
Half my pilot group like it as I do with the same relief, the other half report not really liking it because of ptsd….half of those said it was ok from the ground but too much like Hanoi.

… As if a slightly new perspective on an old time tradition is supposed to make us (me) forget how our Constitutional freedoms are slowly eroding away.
Give it a few years (maybe less) and I bet the dumb-asses and pukes who were paid for by big money (NOT your votes) actually come together and pass more laws against individual freedoms, pervert the Constitution, and prevent anyone else who might want to make another video like that. They’re already doing it when I hear about how the FAA says they have control over anything that flies. Funny how Dvorak missed that one. So sorry if I don’t share the national pride even though I too am an American. I see fireworks in a large metropolitan area from any point of view and I’m reminded how pathetic we all are when we allow a small group of foreign lunatics to WIN with terrorism and cause us to hurt ourselves (though it’s more like allowing our Wall Street criminal masters to do it). Don’t think so? Then answer me this: has anyone tried to take a ride on a large commercial plane lately or go to a courthouse without having your 4th Amendment rights ignored? How about exercising your 1st Amendment rights on a public campus?! (Don’t even get me started on the 2nd, 13th, 14th or 16th Amendments.)
And now that you’re all ON the NSA’s radar just for reading this blog and especially for those of you who pay the IRS to continue their wars against all the little brown people everywhere (even in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona & California), how do you feel about THAT?!
But before you answer, perhaps you’d care to take a look at the Statue of Liberty and read the words that most of YOUR immigrating ancestors were drawn here by — “… Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” What a line of bullshit that was. Right?! Are you starting to feel it too?
