Gun legislation in Germany is considered among the strictest gun control in the world. The current law, the German Weapons Act (German: Waffengesetz), dates from 1907 and includes as well as modifies previous gun laws. This statute regulates the handling of knives, firearms and ammunition as well as acquisition, storage, commerce and maintenance of weapons.

South Korea is #1 in suicide rate 29.5 per 100,000, with a total of 10,000+ a year for a much smaller country.
They don’t use guns in South Korea for suicide, they use chemicals or jump off something tall.
Guns probably increase the number of suicides, since it makes it a little easier.
The suicide rate in the US is almost all white. Whites’ homicides are about 80% suicide, while blacks are about 80% murder.
It took me over a year to get a firearms permit in the Virgin Islands, and I am a military veteran and former Federal Law Enforcement officer. We have the strictest gun control in any US state or Territory, requiring extensive background checks, notarized affidavits from longtime residents, and proof of an approved (police inspected) gun safe for storage. Most applicants must take a 3 day firearms safety course costing hundreds of dollars, unless you can show previous experience. And its still all at the discretion of the attorney general.
We have 60 firearms related murders per 100 thousand here. Higher than Detroit, DC, and New Orleans.

I lived in St. Thomas for a spell. Shared a house overlooking French Town and went swimming in Magen’s bay all the time.

FYI: It’s perfectly legal to have and use a gas-gun in Germany above the age of 18. A gas-gun is a fake gun that can only fire blinds or gas. Pretty common thing in Germany.
