This was such a stupid gaffe that it almost seems intentional, like someone in Clinton’s camp got to Melania’s speechwriter. What are these people thinking????

  1. J. Alfred Prufrock says:

    Making America white again…

  2. Phydeau says:

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

    • NewFormatSux says:

Go further along in the speech. The speechwriter plagiarizes rickrolling.

    • McCullough says:

      Well, don’t gloat too much.

      • Phydeau says:

Nah, not gloating. A lot of politicians lift each others words. But really? At the most important event (for Republicans) of the year? They couldn’t find some original words? This isn’t about plagiarism, it’s about incompetence!

      • ± says:

Obama lies so much that he obviously forgot his “just words” speech when dismissing the definition “Islamic/Muslim terrorism” as just words.

        • Phydeau says:

Thanks for the wingnut perspective, buddy. 🙂

          • ± says:

You still have a problem with the truth. Why not go away sooner than later, there are still plenty of people here who are going to rub it in your face until you self-destruct again.

  3. Essentiallyok says:

Considering the age of the English language and the finite number of possible permutations of words that make sense, everyone is plagiarizing.

  4. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Whats really sad is that a speech by any candidates wifey or kiddies gets ANY coverage at all.

ANY one who cares…….. is a dumbs**t==>just what both parties target.

VOTE: your own economic self interest….leave the BS where it belongs.

Ha, ha: once again the Pukes manage to provide a valid exception to the General Rule of VOTE ALL INCUMBENTS OUT OF OFFICE.

Trump: Pro: blows everything up. Con: Shirley, you can guess?

    • ± says:

You’ve denied twice before the many times you’ve maintained that people should vote their own self interest. I wonder if you’ll deny it again.

The fact that people vote your way instead of trying to hire who would be the most good for the most people, (meaning voting for someone other than R/Ds) is the reason we have the governance we have. You’re a lock-step sheeple who refuses to take responsibility for the people you helped to hire.

    • Mental Case says:

And if Hillary is elected, you actually think that’s somehow “voting them OUT”?!

      • ± says:

You must be new here. (re your grasp of bobbo’s politics)

bobbo is OK with replacing R/Ds with other R/Ds. Also, your vote, whatever it is, may not be acceptable to him. For sure it isn’t, unless you join him in attempting to hire D/Rs.

    • NewFormatSux says:

      > once again the Pukes manage to provide a valid exception to the General Rule of VOTE ALL INCUMBENTS OUT OF OFFICE.

I’m shocked you reached such a conclusion. Shirley I never saw it coming…

  5. Phydeau says:

What’s so funny about this, is that in this incredibly important speech, they were caught plagiarizing Those Who Personify All Evil… the Obamas. It’s just too rich!

You just can’t make this stuff up. I used to think comedians and satirists would have a field day with Trump, but not any more… reality is far more bizarre than anything they could make up.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Yep…… if it was “made up” it would be criticized and panned for being “unbelievable.”

      But………. there it is.

  6. Hmeyers says:

    Slow news day.

    • McCullough says:

Yeah, aint it great for a change.

      • Hmeyers says:

Horrific cleansing/arrests in Turkey using the coup attempt or “coup attempt” depending on the source.

        Cops getting murdered
College football considering getting rid of kickoffs due to player safety
        Monopoly-like megacorps doing “bad things”

I guess a slow news day is a slight reprieve.

  7. Mr Anderson says:

Did they hire the same speech writer?

If Trump wins, I’ll bet he turns the country around, right into the greatest depression, and makes billions an billions off of it.

  8. NewFormatSux says:

Wait, what if Melania did write this herself?

    Will Trump fire her?

  9. Geoworker says:

You can bet there will be mention of this snaffu at the Democratic convention – never miss a chance for political fodder is an axiom in politics.

  10. Clancys_Daddy says:

So did she lie when she said she wrote the speech or did she lie when she said the campaign speech writers wrote the speech?

  11. Mental Case says:

    What are these people thinking????

RE: You actually think politicians are, PEOPLE?!

    Everyone knows, they’re PUPPETS!!!

So if you’re seriously listening to a trophy wife of a puppet, what the hell are YOU thinking????

…What really matters is, who’s pulling the strings.

  12. nunyac says:

Just guessing. Maybe both gals had speech writers that perhaps are in the habit of using well known phrases from historic speeches. Sense the circumstances where similar, the
speeches were constructed in a similar manner borrowing appropriate phrasing from historic speeches and other forms of
dissertation. A more accomplished speech writer might have
been able to capture the ideas expressed without so much apparent plagiarism.

    • Ah_Yea says:

I believe this might be true. Speech writers fly from one pol to another, following where the wind blows.

And the wind is blowing toward Trump. Obama’s speech writers are very good so why not hire them??

  13. ± says:

Melania’s speech was over 15 minutes long and the comparison is less than two minutes, because that is the only overlap. That overlap captured laudable concepts that any conservative embraces (why Michele uttered them is a mystery). Almost any conservative making a speech would touch on those points in 15 minutes.

In other words this is total non-starting desperate anti-Trump bullshit. (after one becomes informed)

So why was this posted? Speculation follows:

    1) it was intended as a troll for the uninformed (myself included on this issue, until now)
    2) McCullough really believes this, no matter what
    3) John C. Dvorak ordered McCullough to post it
    4) some other reason

And to reiterate, not only are the presidential candidates from the D/Rs total scum, but nothing is different re congressional/senate candidates in that 80%+ of them are already hopelessly debauched since they debased themselves by agreeing to the corrupt R/D aegis. Most of the other 20%- are either too stupid to comprehend this or their true and honest idealism is irrelevant, drowned out the others.

    • ± says:

I just heard that the speech writer admitted stealing from Obama’s speech. I was wrong. Apologies to McCullough.

  14. Phydeau says:

One of the most entertaining things to see here is wingnuts losing their minds over Hillary Clinton. To them, it’s obvious that she’s GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY OF SO MANY THINGS and yet she somehow manages to escape prosecution every single time!!!! Chris Christie’s speech last night summed it up perfectly, he might as well have led a chant BURN THE WITCH!

    Keep on keepin’ on, y’all!

    • NewFormatSux says:

Hillary declared Billy Dale of the Travel Office guilty of embezzlement, so as to try and convince people she wasn’t just giving the business to her friends. Unlike with Comey, she actually got the Justice Department to prosecute. Acquitted in ten minutes.
Imagine, facing the prospect of being locked up just because you got in Hillary’s way.

  15. NewFormatSux says:

What’s funny is that MSNBC coverage of the story was with Brian Williams.

  16. Geoworker says:

Malania did not help and Cruz did not help the Republican cause. If Trump’s acceptance speech at the convention does not bring all the doubters together then he won’t have helped either.
Under these conditions, most likely, Hillary will become the next President.

To paraphrase Jerry Pournelle Chaos Manor column, welcome to the third term of Obama.

And, if so, say goodbye to the Republican party forever.

    • NewFormatSux says:

No, Trump is expanding outwards. The other party is running a criminal, so he figures he has a good chance.
Not just an ordinary corrupt criminal, but one who made hundreds of millions of dollars selling access to the government. And who in trying to prevent people from finding out about her corruption set up a server that allowed classified information out, including the names of agents in the field and other operations.
And whose husband is a rapist, and who participated in silencing his accusers.

  17. MikeN says:

DNC higher ups conspired attacks against Bernie.

Wanted to win Kentucky and West Virginia by calling him a atheist.

    • ± says:

The DNC (or RNC) is bought ahead of time. What an anti-surprise.

Then there is the secondary point of uneducated brainwashed people who believe in an ‘invisible imaginary friend in the sky’ being manipulated by religion politics.
