They aren’t the idiots you think they are. They are in the process of setting precedents by using test cases like this. They are testing their boundaries and getting people acclimated to this sort of treatment. Modern airport security serves a similar function.
The Patriot Act has NOTHING to do with reigning in foreign terrorist. It has EVERYTHING to do with reigning in soon to be rioting Americans.
Just wait ’till the US economy totally collapses in the next couple of years… then it will all make sense to you.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Feds relied on Wikipedia for their facts. This is just like when lazy russian spies were using english newspapers as their sources, and relaying their published info as the spy’s own investigative hard work.

People keep saying that the ‘Patriot’ act has never been used to infringe the rights of Americans, “show me one case”, well here you are.
This is unconstitutional, the courts and government have gone rouge.
They’re probably not releasing him because of the black-hole-of-a-money-pit case they have against in a civil suit.

So what are we going to do about it? Probably nothing. We’ll whine on message boards, but not even do so much as write a letter to their elected representatives.
The Patriot Act needs to be challenged constitutionally or congress needs to take it out of action.
When the Patriot Act was established I thought it was a good thing never expecting that our rights would be circumvented as protected by the Constitution. Once I learned that any old agent can write up his/her own search warrant, without Court oversight I realized this stuff was going to happen.
I wonder if our elected officials will do anything to fix this- based on how they continue to ignore the will of the people, I rather doubt it.

The kid was busted for making bomb threats. There does not need to be any bomb making capacity nor even the intent of following through on making a bomb.
Because he is being charged with such a serious crime, he is being denied bail as a flight risk.
The Prosecutor is under a gag order so neither he nor the defense may comment. Therefor we don’t know what evidence the Prosecutor has or even what their case is.
The mother can’t visit very often because she lives in North Carolina and the kid is being held in Indiana. Because the Indiana District is where the crime occurred, they have jurisdiction even if the kid sat at a computer in North Carolina.
No where in that broadcast did I see anything suggesting spoofing. If someone wants to point out where, please do.
Now, could someone tell me, please, what constitutional rights have been violated by the federal prosecutor?
Once again the Feds are going after the wrong person. They should be going after his stylist at SuperCuts. Let’s use the Patriot Act for good.

Geeze, there is little that burns my ass more than such rubbish, tossed out there as if it were fact, by some ijit that doesn’t have a clue what the eff they are talking about.
It will take more than 100 days to undo the Bush/Cheney police state environment we are burdened with.
The key thing is that the confidence of the people in our government is coming back. Similarly, the confidence in our economy is slowly coming back.

No one has grasped the basic end result, at least on this forum. The DHS has put out a reports labeling anyone that disagrees with Northern elite public policy as a Terrorist threat, anyone that goes to alternative, unapproved, new sources as a gateway to being a Terorist. All this under the Hussein Administration.
Those reports are used as a legal basis for warrents and legal opinions. Using the DHS report they can go before a judge and obtain serveillance warrents and arrest warrents for anyone suspected to participate in such activities….you know reading unapproved news sources – like this blog/forum, thinking that you don’t want a lot Mexicans here in your country undercutting your wages, not wanting to be part of North Amreican Union that includes corrupted countries like Mexico where the citizens have so many rights.

I hold the current administration responsible for keeping the Patriot Act. It should have had a sunset clause set for January 20, 2009. Obama will use the Patriot Act against Americans now. The Dept of Homeland Security just labeled veterans, people who don’t believe in abortion, people who listen or read alternative media (blogs/talk radio), people who believe in the second amendment, and people not wearing an Obama button as terrorists. Now these people are subject to the Patriot Act and are terrorists.

The “conservatives” are finally reaping what they have sown and they don’t like it one bit. Short sighted morans.
Everyone is missing the point. The real tragedy is that 20 or 30 years ago, a kid making prank phone calls would get a visit from the county sheriff. Even if he were arrested, he’d be released to his parents. Then he’d go down to the juvenile court judge and either get sent home or get put in juvi for a few weeks.
This shit does not rise to the level of a federal crime. We have just stood by while more and more trivial offenses have been made federal crimes. This is what happens when you have Congress sitting in Washington passing new law every damn day just to prove that they want to “get tough on crime”.
All you liberals and conservatives who want to pass laws against this or that thing which you find objectionable should know that this is the result. Rolling back all federal laws is the only answer.

Right, the last thing we need is a President who requires naval ship captains to get his personal approval to take down pirates holding US citizens hostage.
We need presidents to operate at the level of policy. Like; The justice Dept is not to violate the Bill of Rights when dealing with the accused. Stuff like that. But O’Mama doesn’t seem to understand how to be a senior exec.
And you thought the pain was over after 8 years of W. The pain goes on with Obama backing the Pat Act 2.
