1. Steve says:

Distortion on Fox News. Shocking !

  2. ethanol says:

It is almost sad that we have to rely on a comedy show to catch the media in their lies…

  3. JeffL says:

Reality is a crutch for those who can’t handle dogma.

  4. Schleprock says:

This was Fox… not “the media”. Remember that Fox is “fair and balanced”. That’s why patriots like Dick Cheney go to Fox when they want to get their message out. I have to vomit now.

  5. noname says:

Outrageous, not really. It’s expected that Fox would lie. Sad, it’s beyond sad.

If it had been some liberal media show, all the millions of hypocritical conservative dumb-shits would have come out of their holes screaming bloody murder; to prove, to the world how right and self righteous they are.

  6. Jägermeister says:

Fox News – Dumbing down Americans since 1996.

  7. Loupe Garou says:

Yep, sort of reminds me of Rathergate. Some solid reporting about the Killian documents.

    Sad, it’s beyond sad.

  8. Ah_Yea says:

I was left wondering if this was a diversion to advertise Glenn Beck.

“Oh No! This footage wasn’t actually from the “Superbowl of Freedom”, which had only 10,000 show, it’s from GLENN BECK’S 912 PROJECT!”

So now Beck is bigger than Hannity?
    Hannity promoting Beck?

And now FOX has Steward advertising for him as well!

  9. Jägermeister says:

Note to self… Do not hire Ah_Yea as PR manager.

  10. deowll says:

Hannity and company blew it and deserve to be lampooned. I’m sure he will live.

  11. jccalhoun says:

on his show tonight Hannity admitted it and apologized. He didn’t say why they got it wrong or how it happened though. It isn’t like that apology is just covering up for their deception or anything I’m sure…

  12. MikeN says:

SO instead of 20-45k as Bachmann said, the number might just be 10,000. For protest sizes, I don’t think the picture makes a difference there.

  13. bobbo, a cunning linguist says:

I also don’t think. Who cares about bias to the point of willing to falsify if “the news” says what I want to believe????

Fair and Balanced means agreeing with MEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!

Because I am a right wing nut and proud of it.

  14. amodedoma says:

Somebody got a new link for the video? Apparently they took it down already.

Boy that Hannity, I’ve been a pacifist for a long time but I’d put that all behind me just to beat the sh#t out of him!

  15. Ah_Yea says:

    Jägermeister;

    I wouldn’t hire me either.

  16. bobbo, a cunning linguist says:

#15–Ah Yea==me neither. With any honesty and introspection at all, few of us come up to our own standards. If it weren’t for ignorance and hypocrisy, few of us would have jobs.

    Well said.

  17. fbab says:

Great catch! I like FOX and like when anyone catches any of them on their sneaky tactical distortions, especially when they can make good fun of it.

  18. Dale says:

FoxNews: Fair & Balanced Fake and Biased

  19. Hex says:

Sesame Street had it right–Pox News is REALLY trashy!

  20. Wretched Gnu says:

I love Hannity’s excuse, that it was an “error.” How, exactly, do you “accidentally” reach into a months-old archive of footage, thinking you were retrieving footage from yesterday?

That’s like an accountant accidentally keeping 2 sets of books.

  21. jay says:

Yes we might all know that Fox news is a joke. But the rest of the news outlets will then report on what fox reported. so it becomes real

  22. MikeN says:

Bobbo, what is the point of willing to falsify, if the real footage shows roughly the same thing?

If the rally only had 1000 people, then it would make sense to accuse them of falsifying with a picture of a large rally. But here the rally is roughly the same number as what they claimed, with Bachmann saying 20-45 thousand and WaPo saying 10 thousand, which is about the same variation we get for every protest.

  23. Mr. Fusion says:

    #23, Lyin’ Mike,

If it has to be explained to you, you aren’t smart enough to begin with.

Hannity lied. Bachman lied. Beck lied.

BTW, most of those at the Bachman event were bused in for the event, it wasn’t spontaneous. Both events attracted all the wackos from around the country. So for a while, at least, we didn’t have any wackos in our area.

  24. bobbo, a cunning linguist says:

#23–Well Mike, I would have said what Fusion did and since I disdain repetition, I’ll phrase the same point this way: It would be like saying you are totally full of shit when the real estimate is that only the last 4-5 feet of your bowels are full of shit.

    See the difference now?

  25. The0ne says:

    #24
Don’t forget the interviews with some of them people there. Classic case of “I don’t know wtf is going on but I’m here to follow whatever cause I’m Republican.” This was of course on Daily Show too 😀

  26. bob says:

No question Hannity is a lightweight.

    No question Fox leans right.

Neither is a particularly important fact.

There are corresponding issues on the left. Also not very important.

I got tired of howling about media bias a long time ago. Bias has ALWAYS been present, in ALL media outlets. Google ‘yellow journalism’ for some examples.

The real purpose of every media outlet is to sell advertising and/or subscriptions, copies, donations, whatever. Bias is effective in that effort.

If anyone thinks there are any exceptions, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

We all need to consume multiple sources of news, and do our best to decide for ourselves what’s important and what’s true.

  27. Mr. Fusion says:

    #27, bob,

The real purpose of every media outlet is to sell advertising and/or subscriptions, copies, donations, whatever. Bias is effective in that effort.

If anyone thinks there are any exceptions, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

For many outlets that is true, but it is not a universal dictum.

Good outlets, like the New York Times, Washington Post, Cleveland Plain Dealer, and gathers McClatchy, AP, Thompson Reuters, and Bloomberg, to mention a few, are on the top of the heap when it comes to journalistic integrity. I would also mention the three major TV networks for excellence in broadcasting.

Bad outlets include all of NewsCorp, especially the New York Post, Times (of London), Jerusalem Post, and FOX News. Most blogs are bad news outlets.

What you and the right wing nuts like to call slanted is actually an independent, neutral point of view that does not follow your bias.

Media bias largely disappeared during the 1930s with the introduction of professional journalists and Schools of Journalism. That today the right wing nuts do not employ many (or any) journalists is their short coming.

Of course, accuracy and truth has never influence a wing nut’s decision. Instead, they like to blame the media.

  28. Mike DeVine says:

I actually started a Facebook group dedicated to bringing attention to the Hannity scandal. On the Discussions page I left instructions for filing an online complaint with the FCC (they have a category of complaint specifically for this kind of media bias). Hopefully with enough complaints the FCC might put pressure on Fox News to take some kind of action

  29. Travis says:

What really makes a Tivo better then a DVR from the cable company is that you can edit your channel lineup. You can remove things like HSN QVC and the Jesus channel. You can also remove things like MSNBC Fox News and CNN.

When you have this junk removed and are flipping through the channels you notice things like the city council meeting about rezoning a lot at an intersection. Or you see a the senate debating on CSPAN. when you see the raw and unfiltered version on politics you have to sit and think. Why should you rely on some douche to sum it up into a nice sound bite and give a platform for an expert guest to plug a boring ass book?

The news networks are all about one thing. Keeping you tuned in as long as possible to sell ad space.
