And that’s a picture of the whole globe?
Well, it is actually quite representative of most of eastern US, central Canada, most of Europe and also Russia and northern China.
About the only area of the northern hemisphere that is not freezing AND burried is Atlantic Canada (Where I am) and the Gulf of St Lawrence.
South Carolina is actually quite nice today. The daffodils started coming up this past weekend.
Nothing here in sunny Seattle.
So global warming will be responsible for alleviating the water shortage issues in the Dakotas and the SW USA?
It’s pretty cold where I live right now (8 degrees F in Albuquerque), but it was 40F only 4 days ago. We were expecting the temperature to drop. In short, temperatures are changing from day to day, as is usual in winter.

It’s nice to see someone that actually understands basic science that’s even taught in elementary school.

Regardless of whether we are causing the planet to warm or not, which I’m not totally sold on the CO2 theory, it would be nice to have cleaner, safer and more efficient forms of energy.
With that said, there’s a lot of money to be made promoting new energies and people are still very greedy, so we’ve also got to look out for scams like cap & TRADE…I’d be alright with capping but the trading part seems fishy.
Not to mention that clean safe energy probably already exists there’s just no way to make money of it and so there is no one to get behind it or fund it and even if someone tried it would be an uphill battle.
Someday though.
We have raised a nation of morons. We deserve what we’re going to get.

Something about weather cycles…
Uh… this shows a butt load of precipitation, not cooling. Warmer air holds more moisture, when more moist air hits freezing temps you get more hail and snow. So… yeah, this is an effect of global warming. Now show me a five year streak of steadily decreasing temps (as a mean average) and there would be something to dispute.

Remember global warming is an increase in average temperatures. That means every day is a little warmer than it could be, not that it will never get cold.
The fact that it still snows does not disprove global warming. How can you prove that it isn’t slightly warmer today than it would be without global warming? Long-term averages show global temperatures are increasing and are correlated with carbon dioxide levels, I don’t think any particular snow storm outweighs that evidence.
Like others here, I do not see what the weather in that photo has to do with GLOBAL anything.
In the UK, some people believe that climate change will make our climate a lot colder. Perhaps not as cold as in the film but colder all the same.
Just because jbenson2 #9 chooses not to want to understand it does not make it incorrect. If large corporations are spending huge ammounts of money to, unsucessfully, disprove it only shows that they are worried in case we find out that they want to cover it up!
Show me a hockey-stick temperature increase and I’ll show you some quasi-scientists who are trying to manipulate the data to get their preferred results.

Point 1: Having lived in Michigan City IN east of Gary Indiana at the southernmost point on Lake Michigan, I can tell you all that cold weather and lots of ice, storm and snow is not unusual at the south end of the lake.
Point 2: The Great Lakes have always had teeth. The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is just one example.
Perhaps its not global warming at all. I mean it is winter in Chicago, and st Louis, and Kansas City, and well you get the point.

@#23 What is actually going on : Few decades of Solar-system wide (measurements) warming. On Earth, complex climate system reacts in few ways, two of which directly counter-act warming, keeping us in Natural balance: 1) Earth atmosphere increases radiation to the space (NASA, MIT measurements) 2) There is somewhat violent exchange in energy North-South (storms) evening up temperatures and increasing albedo – again increasing radiation of energy to outer space and cooling.
Simply speaking: there is long established balance in Earth climate and when whatever causes it to shift whichever way, something caused by it reverses it. No “hockey stick” warming possible, irrelevant which way we contribute. Earth evens up on its own. Life on Earth either adapts to temporary changes or gets extinct.

I guess the only way these people will ever admit they have been indoctrinated into a pseudo religion is if the temperature was exactly the same every day, or every year.
It’s too bad we didn’t have some book or some sort of database somewhere that would explain the difference between weather and climate to JCD and his coven of expert, non-scientific not-experts.
