Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, TLC’s controversial reality show about a self-proclaimed “redneck” family and their Toddlers and Tiaras daughter, hit another ratings high on Wednesday night. The fourth episode of Honey Boo Boo pulled in just shy of 3 million viewers at 10 p.m., according to Nielsen overnight ratings, growing 30 percent from last week’s 2.3 million haul.

In the demo, Honey Boo Boo did even better. The half-hour series’ showing among adults 18-49 bested all other cable outings for the night — coverage of the Republican National Convention, included — to pull a 1.3 rating.

Fox News gave the show its closest competition with a 1.2 adults rating in that same time period. On the broadcast networks, Honey Boo Boo bested ABC and CBS’ demo showing for the RNC combined and topped NBC by two tenths of a point. Aggregate coverage of the RNC across networks obviously eclipsed Honey Boo Boo considerably.

There is a huge teleprompter in the back of the room for the speakers at these conventions. You can see how scripted this is. BUT this takes the cake.

Given the dissatisfaction with Obama in the country, why does Ryan and others mentioned in the article think they have to lie to win? Shouldn’t telling the truth be enough?

Laying out the first plans for his party’s presidential ticket, GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan took some factual shortcuts Wednesday night when he attacked President Barack Obama’s policies on Medicare, the economic stimulus and the budget deficit.

President Obama chose the social news site Reddit for his latest direct-to-voters online town hall Wednesday afternoon…The Reddit forum, or subreddit, went live at four minutes after the hour–and within 15 minutes had more than 2000 comments…

Don’t rock the boat, slaves! Do as we say or else!

Mitt Romney loyalists, seeking a show of strength and solidarity at next week’s GOP convention, struggled Friday to placate restless Ron Paul supporters while also weakening the powers of such insurgent candidates in future Republican primaries.
[…]
‘‘It sends the message that when the establishment doesn’t get the outcome they want they will use the process to change it,’’ said Mike Rothfeld of Virginia, who tried in vain to block the ouster of Maine’s delegates partial to Paul. ‘‘It will not be good for the party. It will not be good for Mitt Romney.’’

There are times when you just shake you head in wonder at how stupid we must look to the world when they see people like this who think something you’re born with (like skin color, height, etc) can be changed.

State lawmakers have approved a bill that would establish a first-of-its-kind ban on a controversial form of psychotherapy aimed at making gay teenagers straight.
[…]
Supporters say SB1172 is needed because sexual conversion treatments are dangerous and can cause teens to commit suicide. Conservative religious groups and some Republicans argue that banning conversion therapy would hinder parents’ right to provide psychological care for their children. Mainstream mental health organizations have disavowed such therapy, but it is still practiced in California.

Democratic Senator Ted Lieu, of Torrance, who wrote the bill, says sexual orientation therapy amounts to “psychological abuse of children.”

Looks exactly like a gun.

A school district has demanded a three-year-old deaf student named Hunter use a different hand sign for his name as the current gesture resembles a gun, his parents have claimed. The Grand Island, Nebraska district reportedly has a policy forbidding children from bringing ‘any instrument that looks like a weapon’ to school.

School administrators claim Hunter Spanjer’s name sign, which he makes by crossing his index finger and middle finger and then shaking his hands, violates that policy, his parents said. While it is perhaps unsurprising that the sign for the name Hunter resembles a gun, supporters of the family have argued that it is not something the little boy will be aware of.

‘Anybody that I have talked to thinks this is absolutely ridiculous. This is not threatening in any way,’ the boy’s grandmother, Janet Logue, told KOLN.

‘His name sign, they say, is a violation of their weapons policy,’ his father, Brian Spanjer, added. ‘It’s a registered sign through S.E.E.’ – which stands for Signing Exact English, a sign language system.

He should change his name to something like Phuc Yu, but then that would be considered bullying. Sigh.

New details are emerging about the four U.S. soldiers accused of plotting to assassinate President Obama and overthrow the U.S. government.

Oh Shit!

A man dressed in a military-style “Ghillie suit” who was attempting to provoke a Bigfoot sighting was struck by two vehicles and killed on U.S. 93 South of Kalispell Sunday night.

“He was trying to make people think he was Sasquatch so people would call in a Sasquatch sighting,” Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Schneider said. “You can’t make it up. I haven’t seen or heard of anything like this before. Obviously, his suit made it difficult for people to see him.” “Alcohol may have been a factor,” Schneider said. “Impairment is up in the air.”

Tenley was on the southbound side of the highway, about a half mile south of the highway’s intersection with Rocky Point Road.

“He was in the right-hand lane of travel and the vehicle was unable to avoid him and struck him,” Schneider said of the first vehicle driven by a 15-year-old girl from Somers. A second vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Somers girl also struck Tenley as he laid on the highway.

A truly worthy recipient.

I remember hearing that the other Muslim countries around the Middle East did not want to take them in. Also, that the Palestinians keep themselves in their camps as propaganda against Israel. And so on. Many rumors and stories and whatnot. Some true, some Israeli propaganda in there for sure. There are also many stories in the main stream media about the abuse and deaths the Israelis heap upon them. The Israeli lobby in the US probably outstrips the tobacco, gun, and a few others combined. Hard to know what’s real and not. So, what about this chart? Does it say anything useful these days?

The news that New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the nation’s most prominent Catholic prelate, will deliver the closing blessing to the Republican National Convention in Florida next week was seen as a huge coup for Mitt Romney, the party’s presumptive nominee. But the move has also prompted a sharp debate within the church over the increasingly close ties between leading bishops and the GOP.

Pat Rogers, a Republican National Committee (RNC) leader, is facing calls for his dismissal after telling the staff of Gov. Susana Martinez, R-N.M., that because she agreed to meet with American Indians, she disrespected the memory of Col. George Armstrong Custer…
