What? No prison time for assault?

They are the pride of America — Team U.S.A. — and for the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in London, they’ll be proudly wearing red, white and blue, from beret to blazer. The classic American style — shown in an image above — was crafted by designer Ralph Lauren. But just how American is it?
When ABC News looked at the labels, it found “made in China.” Every item in the uniforms that the U.S. athletes will be wearing at the opening ceremony in London will carry an overseas label.
Nanette Lepore, one of the top U.S. fashion designers, said she was shocked that none of the uniforms had been made in the states. Further, Lepore said that it was “absolutely” possible that the athletes could have been outfitted in U.S.-made clothing. She said U.S. manufactures could have easily made the uniforms — and for less.
Why bother?

With the price of tablets going down, I bet we’ll start seeing more specialty versions showing up. Amazon’s makes it easy to buy from Amazon. Imagine a Coke-sponsored one which starts up with a Coke ad and their website. Or one from Ford that automatically connects to your Ford car. Or one from Astroglide lube and Trojan with links to pron sites. And so on.
Steve Jobs worshippers need not apply. But if you’re looking to get in God’s good graces, or you’re simply in the market for a family-friendly tablet, you may want to check out Family Christian’s Edifi. Billed as the world’s first Christian tablet, its genesis came with the inevitable intersection of technology and religion, according to Brian Honorable, a technology supervisor at Family Christian, the group that sells the tablet.

Nor is it technically the first religious tablet. That honor, of course, goes to Moses and the Jews.

Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, ‘Meet The VP’ — just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal. And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!
The timing of the announcement is now set for ‘coming weeks’.
It was Condi who received two standing ovations at Romney’s Utah retreat a few weeks ago, and everyone left with her name on their lips. Rice made an extended argument for American leadership in the world. In recent days, she emailed supporters:
“2012 is perhaps a turning point for the United States.”
“The upcoming elections loom as one of the most important in my lifetime,” she warned. “I’m very often asked to speak about our current foreign policy and the challenges that lie before us. However, we, as a country, are not going to be able to address any of those international challenges unless we first get our domestic house in order.”
This type of pandering seems so obvious to my suspicious nature. But, how about choosing the best person to take over in the event the POTUS cannot perform his duties? Not that I believe either one of our current choices is qualified to lead as much as a Boy Scout Troop.

““I question why an American businessman and particularly a candidate for president needs to invest vast sums of money in offshore accounts in typical notorious tax havens, that usually mean you’re trying to avoid taxation,” Wasserman-Schultz told reporters Monday in Boston. “If that’s not why he made those investments, he needs to come clean and show us he didn’t do that.”
After spending days pounding on presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney for having a Swiss bank account, disclosure forms show that DNC boss Debbie Wasserman Schultz also had funds in a Swiss bank account at one time. The Weekly Standard reported Tuesday that the Florida Democrat also had investments in foreign drug companies and the state bank of India.
“This revelation comes mere days after the Democratic chair attacked presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for holding money in Swiss bank accounts in the past,” Daniel Halper wrote at the Weekly Standard. The revelation comes on the heels of her refusal to release her own tax forms after repeatedly demanding Romney release his.
I guess it’s true, you really can’t fix stoopid.

Help – I’ve fallen and I can’t find my joint!
They grow in a secret location in northern Israel. A tall fence, security cameras and an armed guard protect them from criminals. A hint of their sweet-scented blossom carries in the air: rows and rows of cannabis plants, as far as the eye can see.
It is here, at a medical marijuana plantation atop the hills of the Galilee, where researchers say they have developed marijuana that can be used to ease the symptoms of some ailments without getting patients high…

From radicals like this to pedophile priests and on and on, remind me why religion (a political system that uses belief in a god or gods its primary tool of control) is a good thing?
Radical Muslims want to tear down Egypt’s pyramids and take over the world. The least the rest of us can do is take them seriously.
Islamist political victories in Egypt have invigorated the debate in certain circles over what to do with the country’s historical sites, or as the extremists call them, the symbols of pagan idolatry. The most pious Muslim theologians do not see the ancient statues, carvings and pyramids as important tourist destinations so much as affronts to their beliefs. Bahraini Sunni leader Abdal-Latif al-Mahmoud called on the Egyptians to “destroy the Pyramids and accomplish what [Egypt’s Muslim conqueror] Amr bin al-As could not.” Abdel Moneim Al-Shahat, a leading member of Egypt’s radical Nour party, suggested that should the pyramids be too difficult to dismantle, structures that have stood for five millennia ought at least be covered in wax to hide them from view.

This week a group called the United Muslim Nations International released a 23-page pamphlet entitled “The Global Islamic Civilization: The Power of a Nation Revived” which outlines a plan for Islamic world domination.
No reason to worry about self-righteous thugs that will never get their way, right?
The best and the brightest likewise scoffed at misfits like Hitler, Lenin and Mao — until the secret police arrived.
And there was this and also this…
The City of San Francisco has banned the purchase of any more Apple computers by all of its agencies. The City is alarmed that Apple has turned its back on the environment, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Last week, Apple withdrew from EPEAT, a government-backed certification program that ensures electronics are recyclable, low energy and otherwise environmentally friendly.

Three whistleblowers – all former employees of the National Security Agency (NSA) – have come forward to give evidence in the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s (EFF’s) lawsuit against the government’s illegal mass surveillance program, Jewel v. NSA.
Comments on this post included suggestions on ways around it. Well, forget it. The further you get into this next article from a few months ago, the full impact will hit you on how irrelevant those methods will shortly be.
Under construction by contractors with top-secret clearances, the blandly named Utah Data Center is being built for the National Security Agency. A project of immense secrecy, it is the final piece in a complex puzzle assembled over the past decade. Its purpose: to intercept, decipher, analyze, and store vast swaths of the world’s communications as they zap down from satellites and zip through the underground and undersea cables of international, foreign, and domestic networks. The heavily fortified $2 billion center should be up and running in September 2013. Flowing through its servers and routers and stored in near-bottomless databases will be all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Google searches, as well as all sorts of personal data trails—parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital “pocket litter.”

Breaking into those complex mathematical shells like the AES is one of the key reasons for the construction going on in Bluffdale. That kind of cryptanalysis requires two major ingredients: super-fast computers to conduct brute-force attacks on encrypted messages and a massive number of those messages for the computers to analyze.
